Awesome Rebar

We’ve seen how rebar is made; now watch how these metal reinforcing rods get a second chance at life after they’ve been bent. Created by JP Botelho, this machine can take even severely mangled lengths of rebar and literally set them straight. It’s an oddly satisfying process to watch.

We’ve seen footage from a factory that uses automation to make rebar, but this facility in Pakistan takes a more hands-on approach. Hydraulic Hands posted this video showing how workers break apart large steel bars, heat them in a furnace, and gradually extrude the fiery hot ropes into long sections of rebar, which wriggle across the floor like orange snakes.

YouTuber Mr. Inventor shows us how he made a unique axe-shaped tool by bending, cutting, and welding together lengths of rusty old steel rebar. It might not be the most practical tool, but it would make a neat decorative piece.
