Awesome Pov

Elon Musk recently shared a brief, but awesome bit of footage shot from the POV of the prototype WARR Hyperloop pod, which set the speed record during the second SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition, hitting 324 km/h (~202 mph) as it zipped through the tube.

Cats get into all kinds of mischief when we’re away from home, so VFX artist Aaron Benitez decided to strap a GoPro Session action camera onto his cat Prince Michael to see what he does as soon as the boss man leaves for work.

Photographer Robert McIntosh created this impressive one-take shot using a deftly piloted palm-sized drone, a stripped-down GoPro, reverse playback, and the After Effects plugin ReelSteady to smooth out the motion. Here’s some of the raw footage prior to stabilization.

As he makes his way around the world, Nigel Sylvester makes quite an entrance as he drops in for a visit in the scorching hot desert of Dubai. We’re surprised that he didn’t figure out a way to ride his BMX bike around the top of the Burj Khalifa.

YouTuber Buttered Side Down used an array of clever editing, camera tricks, and VFX to make his first-person quest for his lost frisbee far more daunting than it really was. The only thing better than this would be a VR version of the video.

Run along with athlete Calen Chan as he heads down the Skyladder parkour course built down the side of Tianman Mountain in China. Not only is the 999 step-tall course the longest on the planet, but its built on a 45° incline to add to the challenge. The slide part looks like fun.

Riding your bike on a downhill mountain path is dangerous enough all on its own – hence the helmets and pads these guys are wearing. But this ride down a course in Slovakia provided an added source of peril – a bear. Thankfully, the killer animal gave up the chase rather quickly.

TheFieldLab mounted a camera at the bottom of a bucket filled with water, then placed it outdoors where various animals might drink from it. The unique perspective from beneath the surface is both silly and soothing.

Watch the season fade in and out over a farm in this short and sweet time-lapse. Photographer Will Strathmann shot the footage intermittently from 2015 to 2017. He tried his best to fly his drone on the same path then aligned the clips to pull off the transitions.

Riding a mountain bike at downhill speeds in the daylight is daunting enough, but Kilian Bron and his buddies tried something even more sketchy – a ride through an abandoned mineshaft using only their headlamps to guide their way through the dark and dank maze.

Watch as daredevil kayakers Rush Sturges and Ben Marr ride through a drainage canal that’s just inches wider than their tandem boat, as they take a thrilling and dangerous ride that could have easily snapped their paddles – or their bones – if anything went wrong.

(PG-13, Gross) An unaverage man as he goes about his daily routine. Spencer Higginson’s horror short film starts out cute, but quickly delves into Don’t Hug Me, I’m Scared territory. It seems like there’s a lot to digest here, but we’d rather not watch it again.

5MadMovieMakers take us on a hypnotic ride along a track lined with LEDs, glow sticks, lasers, and fire. The first-person view was shot with a GoPro Hero4 Session installed onto a Bull Whip car, which has a convenient mounting location on its roof spoiler.

Some incredibly immersive POV footage shot from the visor of IndyCar racer Graham Rahal as he runs a handful of test laps around Phoenix International Raceway’s mile-long circuit, pulling some insane G-forces along the way.
