Trine 3‘s knight, thief and wizard display their unique abilities separately. The game’s colors are still too saturated for our taste, but the platforming and puzzles are still on point even with the new 3D environment.

Aaru’s Awakening is a platformer featuring hand-drawn art and fast-paced action. Use the main character’s teleportation ability to weave your way through its beautiful levels. Coming to Windows, OS X, PS3 and PS4 this summer.

Originally slated for Xbox 360, this Xbox One platform-puzzler makes you draw missing pieces of the environment for your character to progress. While it looks like the controls could work well with Kinect, it’s all joystick.

Shovel Knight is an action platformer for gamers pining for the look and feel of the 8-bit Castlevania and Mega Man games. It will have a story mode as well as a multiplayer battle mode where you can play as the game’s bosses.

Insomnia returns to classic form in their latest R&C game, adding gravity manipulation guns and wearables, as well as the Winterizer, which turns enemies into snowmen and the Nightmare Box which scares the crap out of them.

A side-scrolling platformer and shoot ’em up from Tribute Games (Wizorb). It features a ton of weapons and armor as well as the sweet art of Paul Robertson and the other artists who worked on the Scott Pilgrim game.

A puzzle adventure game where you play as a man armed with a gun that creates clones of himself.  You can possess any of your clones as you navigate through the game’s beautifully creepy world. Also on Steam. Demo at 2:02.

Supergiant Games builds on the success of Bastion with their next game, Transistor. It’s an isometric RPG/platformer that offers both real-time and turn-based battle styles, as well as the sweet art of Supergiant’s Jen Zee.

A visually spectactular 2.5D platformer being developed with a unique steampunk aesthetic. Game artist Eric Provan is currently raising funds for completion of the game on Kickstarter.

Nintendo has Mario, Sega has Sonic and Ubisoft has Rayman. Now the limbless action platforming hero and his friends are back in beautifully-drawn 2D. The game drops on 11/15/2011.

Featuring beautifully illustrated environments, this new 2D side-scroller is headed to Xbox 360 and PC. IndieGames named it one of the top 10 to watch in 2011, and from the looks of it, we agree.

Not satisfied with just bending time, Ubisoft added new elemental powers to the latest Prince of Persia game, including solidifying water, using wind as a weapon, and jumping off buildings long gone.
