Awesome Opel

German automaker Opel is showing off a sweet restomodded version of its 1970 Manta coupe. In place of the diminutive inline-4 engine, the concept is propelled by an electric motor that sends 145 bhp and 188 lb-ft. of torque to the rear wheels, about double the original car’s power.

The Monza Concept four-seater hybrid has a three cylinder engine that runs on natural gas. Gull-wing doors provide access to both front and rear seats, and it has a customizable dashboard that uses 3D LED projectors. More here.

Taking direct aim at Audi’s S4, the 2010 Opel Insignia OPC gets a 2.8L V6 turbo engine with 325 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-60 of 5.8s and a top speed of 155mph.

Opel’s Ampera is one heckuva sexy plug-in hybrid with a 300+ mile range; its switchback-shaped headlights send daggers straight to the now pedestrian-looking Chevy Volt’s heart.
