(PG-13: Language) Upper State’s darkly-comedic parody of The Sopranos imagines if the show was set in the Mushroom Kingdom instead of New Jersey. It’s so well executed, it could have been an actually episode of HBO’s hit drama. Actor Max Koch’s Gandolfini impression really helps sell it. (Thanks Ryan!)
THE BEST Nintendo
Back in 1989, Sharp took the electronics from a Nintendo Famicom 8-bit gaming system and tricked them out to create an early piece of home video wizardy – a tool that could be used to create titles and graphics to overlay on video recordings. Nostalgia Nerd got up close with this obscure gadget to see what it could do.
1up your grooming routine with this handmade beard comb from L.I.M. Lazer. Its alder wood body features a laser-engraved design inspired by Nintendo’s classic 8-bit gaming system, and offers up two laminated bamboo comb blades with fine and wide spacing. Retro system master builder Love Hultén continues to outdo himself, this time creating a sweet game cabinet not only inspired by the classic Nintendo Famicom system, but has a fully-playable console built-in. It also packs an old-school 9″ Sony Trinitron CRT, and has storage for controllers inside, and cartridges on top.
When you make games that are as whimsical in nature as Nintendo, you’re bound to have some weird moments over the years. Nintendo fan Shiromi edited together a reel of some of the wackiest things that have happened to Mario, Link, and Kid Icarus and others over the years. Man, the 1990s were a strange time.
Classical pianist Martin Leung dropped by the University of Michigan’s Britton Recital Hall to perform a medley of tracks from the world of Mario Bros., kicking things off with the classic Super Mario Bros. theme – and just to show off, he did that first bit blindfolded. If it seems familiar, he first performed the medley back in 2007.
With the recent release of Super Mario Maker 2, TheDominoKing decided to pay tribute to the franchise with an epic setup of 127,055 dominoes, all arranged to form images from the Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, and Super Mario World styles from the game. It took him about 2 months in total to set it all up.

Look Mum No Computer has been working on and off for over a year on this incredibly complicated electronic music maker, a wall full of Nintendo Game Boys which work in perfect sync to produce richly-layered polyphonic chiptunes. It’s still not finished, but even as a work in progress, it’s still quite impressive.
Everyone’s other favorite Italian plumber is back to dustbust more ghosts in this game for Nintendo Switch. Luigi gets a few new tricks like the ability to switch from suck to blow, an alter-ego named “Gooigi,” and online and local co-op gameplay with 2 to 8 players. Drops late 2019.

We think the original Game Boy watch is the bees’ knees. But if you’re more of a ’90s kid, check out Firebox’s follow up. This officially licensed Nintendo watch is based on the blue Game Boy Color. It makes the handheld’s sounds when you press its buttons.
Our latest look at Nintendo Switch’s mega RPG Pokémon Sword and Shield is a doozy. The game will feature open-world areas where wild pokémon are visible, raids for up to four players, and a three-turn move called Dynamax that turns your critters into giants. The game drops 11/15/19.
Gadgets from the 1980s were lots of fun, but the plastics they used back then had a tendency to yellow, and look awful over time. Watch in awe as Odd Tinkering takes a grubby old Nintendo Game Boy and makes it like new. That soldering iron trick to fix the lines on the screen is nifty.

Mario Kitty finds out that Princess Kitty has gone missing, and recruits the help of Human Luigi to rescue her in this cute, charming, and well-executed short film by Mr.TVCow. We’re dying to see what Bowser looks like. We’re thinking an English mastiff with a spiky collar.
