Sounding like an iPhone 3GS, Nikon’s 12.3 MP D300S gets speed and video: HD 720p @ 24 fps recording with autofocus and faster 7fps continuous shooting are its chief improvements.
Now official after a leak yesterday, Nikon’s D5000 DSLR packs a 12.3MP DX-format sensor, 2.7″ swiveling display, Live View, 11-point AF system and a 720/24p movie mode.
Touchscreens are the new “it” tech for cameras, and Nikon’s 10.0 MP Coolpix S230 doesn’t disappoint; it features a 3″ LCD touch panel, face-priority AF and 4-way image stabilization.
Nikon throws its hat into the superzoom ring with the Coolpix P90; it boasts a 24x wide-angle zoom, tiltable 3″ LCD screen, 15 fps high speed shots and up to ISO 6400 with its 12.1 MP sensor.
After a leak last week, Nikon’s D3X DSLR is official: this 24.5 MP monster features a 3″ screen and ISO from 50 to 6,400. It’s also able to shoot pictures just 0.12 seconds from a cold start.
Wanna kick your Canon 5D MKII or Nikon D90’s HD video recording up a notch? Redrock Micro is releasing a “Cinematizing Kit” that will add pro-level zoom + focus controls and a lens hood.
Nikon’s Media Port UP headset is a combination headphone and media player with a swiveling eyepiece for watching videos; it’s controlled by tilting your head up, down, left and right.
The Nikon D90 is the first DSLR with video recording; yes, you can use any lens attached to the camera body (fisheye anyone?). Other specs: max ISO 6400, 12.3 megapixels.
If a camera and an iPod Touch got together, you’d get Nikon’s Coolpix S60. The 10 megapixel camera only has one physical button for the shutter; the entire back is a 3.5″ touchscreen.
