Derealisation is a psychological condition that can cause individuals to feel disconnected and distant and may result in a distorted perception of the world around them. This trippy short film by Panoply attempts to capture that sense through a surreal sequence of images that play out in photorealistic environments.

Fernando Livschitz of Black Sheep Films is a master at manipulating reality. Anywhere Can Happen is a series of his vignettes in which vehicles, people, animals, and locations surprise and delight. Reuben and the Dark x AG’s cover of Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World perfectly underscores the imagery.

3D artist and motion designer Matthieu Braccini has been working in his spare time on a science fiction short film about a humanoid alone in space. He hasn’t had time to finish it, so in the meantime, he shared this short sequence that reveals the main character coming to life from a sea of seemingly random shapes.

Created by ShaneF Motion Design, this incredible CGI rendering replaces the windows at the Zara SoHo NYC store with visuals that create the illusion that the store has been flooded with some kind of alien swarm. We’d love to see this done in real life using transparent LED screens.

Motion artist Dirk Koy teamed up with iconic German group Yello to create a music video that perfectly suits the rhythmic dance beats of their track Out of Sight. Like in his other videos, Koy plays with object geometries in strange and unexpected ways. From the album Point.

Motion artist Henning M. Lederer is back with another cool animated clip. This time, he didn’t just use book covers, but he included some eye-catching designs from vintage record sleeves as well. The electronic music track by Tilman Grundig fits the structured, geometric imagery perfectly.

Motion designer Eddy Koek likes to create cool experimental visuals, using computer code as his medium. Here’s a compilation of some of his hypnotic moving images that he typically shares on his Instagram page. He also licenses his patterns for use by VJs as background art.
