Awesome Mission Impossible

Composer Lalo Schifrin’s theme from Mission Impossible is one of the most recognizeable TV and movie theme songs of all time. But we bet you’ve never heard it like this. Musician Jamie Dupuis found a way to preserve the urgency of the original while adding a dash of bluegrass on the 5-string banjo.

Fans of The Office will be familiar with Michael Scott’s Magnum Opus, Threat Level: Midnight. As a tribute to the cheesy, low-budget film within a show, Rajveer Dhanak managed to cut together a trailer for a much slicker version, inspired by the Mission Impossible movies.

Lessons from the Screenplay looks at two Mission: Impossible movies to show how they’re well laid out heist films. A large part of the movies lead up to a tense heist. Even though we know that the heroes are going to succeed, we’re still excited by it.

In Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Ethan Hunt tries to finish a mission that ended badly. This leads the CIA to question his motives, and ends up sending other agents – including one played by Henry Cavill – to take down Hunt. Twice the enemies, twice the stunts.

The vintage electronics orchestra known as Floppotron turns in a perfectly pleasing performance of Lalo Schifrin’s classic theme music from Mission Impossible. “This floppy disk will self-destruct in five seconds.”

Say what you will about Tom Cruise, but one thing you can’t say is that he isn’t dedicated to his craft. Not only did Cruise learn to fly a helicopter for Mission Impossible: Fallout, he performed solo flying stunts, while acting his part, and operating on-board cameras.

The guys from Sneaky Zebra created this amusing short flick, which parodies Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible series by sending a team of crack secret agents on missions to perform completely routine tasks. It’s worth it for the hairdo alone.

Tom Cruise may not be as crazy as Jackie Chan, but he’s awfully close. He didn’t have a double for his airplane stunt in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, which took them eight takes to get right. It should be named MI: Balls of Steel.

Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner team up against Alec Baldwin as his bureaucrats attempt to shut down the IMF. But Ethan and his crew won’t go down quietly as they take on one last mission to shut down an evil syndicate.

Hot on the heels of the teaser, we’ve got the first full-length trailer, which gives more insight into the story – in which Ethan and his squad must take down an evil organization called The Syndicate. That alley chase scene just looks sick.

We like Tom Cruise best in action and sci-fi flicks. The latest in his Mission Impossible series looks as thrilling as ever, despite the guy being 19 years older than in his first MI movie. Plus, Simon Pegg is back. Yay! Hits theaters 7/31/15.
