Awesome Lions

We’re always fascinated by sculpture videos because they show how simple materials can become beautiful works of art in the right hands. Vladimir of Old School Carving took a stack of oak wood, glued it into a rough shape, carved it with an angle grinder, then refined it into a majestic wooden lion with hand tools.

Idris Elba and Sharlto Copley star in this survival thriller about a family who goes on an African safari vacation, only to encounter the feline equivalent of Cujo. Will they evade the deadly lion’s claws, or will the beast prove it’s at the top of the food chain? Directed by Baltasar Kormakur (Everest, Adrift).

Artist Blake McFarland shows off a pair of sculptures he built for the 2019 Cotton Bowl. He created versions of Penn State’s Nittany Lion and the University of Memphis Tiger out of Goodyear tires, wrapped around a foam and fiberglass structure. The sculptures weigh about 200 lb each, and used pieces from 400 tires combined.

What do you do when a lioness decides to use you as a cushion and catch a cat-nap on top of you? Guess you just let her do as she wants – assuming you want to live. Can we get an “awwwwww…..”?

We’re not sure why animals like to make off with or destroy video equipment, but one of these lions to pinch this guys GoPro camera and walk around with it in her mouth while it was recording.
