We love how they’ve figured out how to make LED light bulbs that look like vintage filament bulbs. But this one has another trick: it doesn’t need to be screwed into a socket at all. Bitluni’s Lab continues to upgrade his DIY video wall project by supersizing it to 1920 ping pong ball pixels, each illuminated by an RGBW LED. With its latest circuit, it can stream live video at up to 74fps. Unlike the prior versions, he didn’t have to drill tons of holes, and it’s made up of multiple small panels instead of one big one.

We’re not sure if they’re street legal, but we think every car should have taillights like the ones on this 1991 Nissan Skyline GTS-4. Steve Molans of Skeptik Innovations built these custom lights which use RGB LEDs and mirrors to create an infinite effect and can change colors. They still work as normal brake lights and turn indicators.

Last Christmas, maker Jiří Praus decided he wanted a unique ornament. So he set about building a light-up sphere that can display colorful patterns. And the 2020 award for creepiest Kickstarter goes to… Neon Culture’s What’s Your Face LED Mask. This programmable costume lets you replace your face with another with the tap of your phone screen. It has over 2,000 individual LEDs which can be used to display one of a number of digitized faces or animated effects.

The guys at ThunderDomes are in the business of building geodesic domes. But they also make some nifty LED lamps, which use 3D printing and cast resin structures to throw dramatic shadows onto walls, ceilings, and floors. They come in a variety of designs, with our favorite being the golden ratio spiral pattern.

Designer Samuel Wilkinson’s unique lighting system uses bulbs with flexible LED filaments to create a bold and modern look. The lights can work individually or in larger fixtures such as chandeliers.
