The XPS 13 (model 9380) finally addresses the series’ main weakness. The webcam that used to be at the bottom of the screen is now at the top. You still get the revolutionary thin bezels, the carbon fiber interior and the vibrant, HDR-enabled screen.

Massdrop and the Techwear Intern’s dedicated laptop carrier is waterproof and tear-resistant. It has an EVA foam padding for the laptop compartment. It can be combined with a strap and with Massdrop’s MACS pouches. It comes in two sizes.

Samsung is updating its thin and light hybrid laptop for 2019. The new Notebook 9 Pro features a sharp new aluminum body. It also has thinner bezels, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and a wider keyboard. It still comes with an Active Pen stylus.

The successor to the Lenovo X280, the X390 laptop packs a 13.3″ display in the body of a 12″ machine. It’s only 0.7″ thick and weighs just 2.7 lb. It’s powered by Intel 8th gen CPUs, has an optional SIM slot for LTE, and lasts up to 17 hours per charge. Drops 6/2019 for $1099+.

Science Channel takes inside a factory that cranks out laptop computers like the one you might be looking at this very minute. The assembly starts out using high speed robots to pick and place parts on its circuit boards, but the rest is a labor-intensive, manual process.

Blau Design’s trio of stretchy elastic and silicone organizers are designed to carry small items such as phones, mice and pens and can be wrapped around 13″ or 15″ laptops as well as paper notebooks. The Fold and the Slim can also be used on their own.

Lenovo’s Legion Y540 is a gaming laptop with an elegant design. It has white backlighting on its keyboard, up to an 8th gen Core i7 CPU, NVIDIA RTX 2060 Max-Q GPU, and a 15.6″ 1080p display with an optional 144Hz refresh rate. Drops Spring 2019 starting at $930.

Clocking in at 5.79 lb, Alienware’s 2019 m17 is the world’s thinnest and lightest 17″ gaming laptop, thanks to its copper and magnesium alloy case. It can be maxed out with Intel’s 8th gen Core i9 CPU and NVIDIA’s RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU. It drops 1/29/19 starting at $1649.

Alienware’s new desktop replacement gaming laptop. The beastly Area-51m can be maxed out with desktop-class Core i9 CPU and NVIDIA RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU… for now. That’s because you can swap out its CPU and GPU, as well as its RAM and battery. Drops 1/29/19 for $2549+.

ASUS’ GZ700 ROG Mothership gaming laptop borrows a trick from 2-in-1 hybrids. Its keyboard can be detached from the 17.3″ 1080p 144Hz display and used wirelessly or via USB-C. It has a six-core i9 CPU, an RTX 2080 GPU and up to 64GB RAM.

With a top lid that’s 97% screen, ASUS‘ aluminum unibody laptop has all but dispensed of its display bezels. There’s a tiny webcam bump-out, but that’s a smart tradeoff. The computer maker also says the 13.9″ laptop is the world’s slimmest to sport discrete graphics.

LG’s latest addition to its lightweight laptop line has a 17″ 2560×1600 screen, despite having the footprint of a 15.6″ laptop. The Gram 17Z990 has thin bezels, 8th Gen Core i7 CPU, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. It weighs under 3lb. and lasts up to 20h per charge.

Samsung’s Notebook 9 Pen is a laptop and tablet hybrid that works with the included S Pen stylus. The 2019 model has two times reduced latency as its predecessor. It also has thin bezels, expandable storage and two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Razer updates its Blade Stealth in terms of both beauty and power. It now has very thin bezels and comes standard with the NVIDIA MX150 4GB GPU, making it suitable for light gaming. It can be configured with a 1080p or a 4K touchscreen display.

It took years, but Apple finally upgraded its beloved ultraportable. The new MacBook Air has a 13.3″ 2560×1600 Retina display, a fingerprint sensor for Touch ID, two USB-C ports, an 8th gen dual-core Core i5 CPU, 8GB/16GB RAM, and 128GB to 1.5TB SSD.

This compact computer has an 8″ 1920×1200 touchscreen. It’s powered by a 1.1Ghz Intel Silver CPU and has 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB of SSD storage. It has USB type-A, USB-C, HDMI and 3.5mm ports, and runs on Windows 10 or Ubuntu. An optional stylus is available.
