Add a little space to your desk with this playful astronaut lamp from Paladone. The tiny moon man takes his spacewalk at the end of an adjustable gooseneck, as he floats above the lunar textured base below. Runs on USB or 3 AAA batteries, so it’s definitely just an accent light.

These unique desk lamps have a pair of magnetic spheres which float in their centers. When placed near enough to each other that they attract, the light turns on. Move them apart, and it turns off. The LED light offers ambient illumination, with six different color temperature settings, and runs on a built-in rechargeable battery.

These laser-cut lamps feature designs inspired by the neon signs of Hong Kong. Not only are the lamps cool to look at, but they cast awesome shadows onto your walls and ceiling. They’ll be made in two materials, with the pricey copper version offering the sharpest images, while the acrylic version is far more economical.

These clever 3D-printed lamps look their light bulb has been shattered. Designed by Joakim Christoffersson for Gässling, they appear to have been dropped on the floor, splintered by a bullet, or smashed into a wall. Each is powered by a 6W LED bulb, and measures about 5.5″ across – roughly twice the size of a standard A19 bulb.

Dyson’s second high-end desk lamp offers multiple pivot and swivel points, so you can aim it exactly where needed. Its light module automatically adjusts its color temperature and brightness throughout the day, and its base column doubles as an ambient light when you don’t need a point source. Modustrial Maker shows us how to build a sweet looking ceiling pendant lamp that looks like it came from an expensive modern lighting store. The trickiest part was getting the wood pliable enough to bend in two directions without cracking, but the finished piece looks like it was worth the effort.

This modern tabletop lamp features a tilted acrylic shade which hangs from the side rather than the center of its structure. It uses LEDs to provide a diffuse lighting effect, and offers five brightness and five color temperature settings. Its metal and glass base doubles as a Qi wireless charger for your smartphone.

She may not look like much, but she lights up where it counts. This 1:180 scale replica of Han Solo’s ship floats at the end of an adjustable Angelpoise-style base. You’ll want to grab the TIE Fighter lamp for the other side of your desk so they can do battle. Both lamps offer bright LED illumination, and are USB-powered.

While these wooden nightlights are designed for a space-themed kid’s room or nursery, we think they’d look great on any desk, dresser, or bedside table. Rachel Calder makes these striking tabletop accent lights by embedding delicate strands of LED lights on copper wire along with organic objects in a block of resin. Each one is a unique, handmade piece of art. She also makes a more playful design using a jumbo LEGO minifigure casting.
