Awesome Ladders

Atulie’er village is situated on the edge of a cliff in Sichuan, China. Historically, it took villagers a half-day to climb a series of 17 wood, rope, and vine ladders to get there. The China Traveller takes us on a tour of a more recent addition to the community, a metal ladder made from pipes that offers a more direct, but still exhausting route.

Russian firefighter Artur Prosport shared video of a competition where participants show off their speed climbing a building. Each player must run to the wall carrying a one-story ladder, then use it to ascend three floors as quickly as possible. We imagine this would be much slower if they were wearing their firefighting gear.

The compact and collapsible Murphy Ladder looks like an impressive product all on its own, but this hilarious commercial spot for the product makes us even more likely to run out and buy one… then use it in the wrestling ring on our opponents.

What walks downstairs, alone or in pairs, and makes a laddery sound? Everyone knows it’s Ladder! As one commenter pointed out: “That ladder walks more elegantly than half the robots out there.” We have to agree.
