Metalsmith Koss walks us through the process of taking an old, worn file and transforming it into a shiny new knife. The finished tool uses reshaped and sharpened steel from the file, with the addition of new G10 scales for its handle. We love how he preserved the texture of the file as part of the blade design.

It may have been made by IronMan Forge, but the ZigZag Cowboy is definitely worthy of the god of thunder. This hunting knife features a unique lightning bolt construction, made doubly attractive by its damascus patterns. It’s on sale at Touch of Modern until 6/13/19 only.

Horizon Knives’ Lyra is only 2″ long when fully folded. Yet it becomes nearly 6″ long and provides a full-size handle when expanded, thanks to its unique design. It has a D2 knife steel blade with a thumb rest and titanium handle and linkages. Available in black or silver.

Nitecore’s keychain knife is small but mighty. Made from lightweight TC4 titanium alloy and measuring just over 2″ folded, it holds a sharp, replaceable scalpel blade for precise cuts, and can also make quick work of rope cutting or opening boxes.

Drop and Ferrum Forge’s RUK (Retracting Utility Knife) Titanium stores a utility blade in a 2.6″ titanium case with a spring-loaded mechanism. Its domed button won’t easily catch in your pocket. It’s available in black, gray or blue.

The Omniblade is what maker Teryx bills as the Swiss Army knife of large tools. It’s a badass looking 23″ long 5-in-1 tool that incorporates a machete, a hatchet, a closed-guard utility knife, a 7″ long saw, and a hammer into one compact form.

Bladesmith Green Beetle has been collecting spiral shavings left over from the production of damascus steel blades, and decided to see if he could create a knife by melting down the excess bits with some powdered steel. We always enjoy the warm glow of molten metal.

Styrofoam is great for packing stuff, but it’s horrible to try and get rid of the stuff. Unconventional blademaker kiwami japan put the material to good use, melting it down and shaping it into a razor sharp kitchen knife. But first, he has to peel some oranges.
