Awesome Knight Rider

TOMY Toys has created the ultimate collectible version of Knight Rider’s K.I.T.T. The 1:10-scale car is a die-cast metal replica of the modded 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, with working, pop-up headlights, sound effects, a detailed interior with an animated screen, and voice recognition that responds with Bill Daniels’ iconic voice.

Fans of Knight Rider will immediately recognize this murdered-out 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am as K.I.T.T. Playmobil’s version plays original voice clips and activates its scanner light when you touch its hood. The set includes poseable figures of Michael Knight, Bonnie Barstow, and Devon Miles.

The Knight Industries Two Thousand was a modded 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. Retro Recipies wanted to update the design with a modern car, so he took a Tesla Model 3, fitted it with replica Turbo Cast wheels, LED chase lights, a spoiler, and blacked-out trim. It also plays KITT’s voice, and performs a light show to go with.

Musician Samara Ginsberg recently entertained us with her lively cello arrangement of the Inspector Gadget theme. She’s back with another fun cover – this time taking on the classic theme song from Knight Rider with an 8-layered cello recording.

Device Orchestra plays a cover version of the classic theme song from Knight Rider on a variety of clicking and vibrating gadgets, including a typewriter, a pair of credit card terminals, and an electric toothbrush in a black leather jacket. Though we wish he got an R/C Trans Am to play KITT.

We all know that Germans love David Hasselhoff, so it makes perfect sense that the Knight Rider and Baywatch star would appear in a commercial for a German automotive website. The words may be in German, but the humor is universal. Presumably, K.I.T.T. was replaced with a moped due to fuel efficiency concerns.

We like to imagine David Hasselhoff pulling up in a rusted out old jalopy (with an LED light bar on front) as the visual accompaniment to Banjo Guy Ollie’s awesomely bluegrassified cover of the familiar theme from Knight Rider.

Convert any car into KITT from Knight Rider with this officially-licensed gadget from ThinkGeek. It not only lights up and plays sounds and phrases from the classic ’80s show, but doubles as a dual-port USB charger, with one 2.1A and one 1.0A port.

Movie and TV car customizer Red Harden is selling one of the Pontiac Firebird Trans Ams used in the original Knight Rider TV series. Red modded the car in the ’80s and then refurbished it when it was returned to him years later.

Chris Palmer turned his 1991 Pontiac Trans Am into a replica of KITT from the ’80s TV show Knight Rider. His car doesn’t talk and has no weapons, but it does have KITT’s dashboard, steering wheel and red scanner bar. More here.
