Awesome Joel Creates

Rubber Band Car Engine

Rubber Band Car Engine

It’s easy to find toy cars that are powered by rubber bands. On the other hand, it seems that nobody is making human-size vehicles that run on rubber band power. Joel Creates set out to solve this problem by replacing the engine in a lightweight Goblin kit car with an elastic-powered one. Like toy cars, it needs to be pulled back to store energy for a ride.

Turning a Gas Car into an EV with Hoverboards

Turning a Gas Car into an EV with Hoverboards

Electric vehicles are gradually getting less expensive, but they’re still not exactly cheap. That didn’t stop Joel Creates from owning an EV. Only for his hacked-together “world’s cheapest Tesla,” he put a 1991 VW Golf on top of wheel dollies and four self-balancing hoverboards. Then, he doubled down and turned it into an all-wheel drive with 2x more motors.

All-Terrain Tank Boots

All-Terrain Tank Boots

While an all-terrain personal mobility device sounds like a good idea, we’re not sure that boots that drive like tanks are the best way to get around. Joel Creates shows off his design for a wearable off-road vehicle that’s totally impractical yet extraordinarily cool to see in action. They’d balance way better if they had longer tracks.

Motorized Standing Desk Drives on Wheels

Motorized Standing Desk Drives on Wheels

While a standing desk is better for your back than a seated one, it won’t help you get any exercise – unless you can walk while you work. That’s the idea behind this Flexispot standing desk modded by Joel Creates. To prove that his motorized desk is a practical workstation, Joel edited this entire video while the desk was in motion.

Self-launching NERF Missiles

Self-launching NERF Missiles

After engineering NERF darts that can fire themselves, Joel Creates thought he’d try the same with those larger NERF missiles. Typically launched with a pump-action weapon, Joel’s capacitor- and flash cotton-powered missile launchers are self-contained and launch with the push of a button. Those wrist-mounted launchers look super cool too.

Electric Shock Piano

Electric Shock Piano

There are lots of ways to learn to play the piano. Joel Creates and his friend Eric came up with the cruelest method. Their electric piano keyboard uses negative reinforcement, zapping students with high-voltage electricity if they mess up. It has electrodes on every key, so it shocks the same finger that played the wrong note.

Self-firing NERF Dart

Self-firing NERF Dart

NERF darts typically require a blaster if you want to shoot them across the room. Joel Creates and his brother engineered a NERF dart that can fire itself right from your hand. After playing with compressed air, explosives, and springs, the final design relies on an electric ignition and a magician’s gimmick.

Jet-Powered Hand Dryer

Jet-Powered Hand Dryer

Joel Creates was sick of waiting for his hands to dry in public restrooms, so he and his brother built one that works much faster. The jet-powered dryer evaporates water in a split-second and will also melt the flesh from your bones. He also made the world’s most powerful hair dryer. Yep. Don’t try any part of this at home.

Pocket-size Toaster

Pocket-size Toaster

Inspired by Logan Paul’s ridiculous idea for a toaster you can put in your pocket, Joel Creates wanted to see if he could make the idea real. As you’ll see in the video, creating such a device presented some challenges, not the least of which was the potential of severe burns, inhaling plastic fumes, and starting fires.
