Awesome Jets

We’ve seen a remote-controlled jumbo jet fly before, but there’s something about this featherweight model that makes it extra special. Despite having a wingspan of nearly 10 feet, this model weighs just 6.6 pounds. RC Media World captured footage of Remy Mormino’s 1/26th scale Airbus A-380 as it took to the skies in Germany.

The supersonic Concorde jet planes have been retired, so the only way to witness the majesty of this marvel in flight is through replica models. RCScaleAirplanes shares footage of Otto Widlroither’s incredible 1/6-scale version of the jet. It measures 33 feet long, has a 13 foot wingspan, and is powered by four JetCat P300 Pro turbines.

YouTuber The S loves to make stuff from cardboard, and often incorporates matchsticks into his designs. In this clip, he compiles four builds which incorporate jet engines powered by numerous lit matches. While they don’t travel that fast, the fiery launches are quite the spectacle.

The Bloodhound LSR team marches closer towards their land speed record goal with a jet-powered car that could reach speeds up to 1000mph. Testing has been going well with some crazy fast runs across the Hakskeenpan desert in South Africa with pilot Andy Green behind the controls. They’ve since hit 461 mph.

A look at one of the most incredible LEGO models we’ve ever seen – a 36 foot-long replica of the US presidential 747 jumbo jet. Apparently, it was built from a 1 million bricks. The model has been making the rounds at LEGO expositions in Poland since 2016.

It’s unlikely that you’ll ever stand this close to the back of a jet engine, but if you ever do, it’s a really, really bad idea. The Hacksmith set up a human analog bust to show us the Raiders of the Lost Ark flesh melting that would happen if you got too close. Gooey bits at 9:45.

Pilot Christian Gschwenter’s amazing remote-controlled scale model looks and flies just like a real F-16 Cobra fighter jet. While its engine doesn’t have a real afterburner, it’s got a ring of LED lighting out back to simulate flame, and even can make smoke trails.

After tremendous response to their jet engine ceiling fan, Phighter Images came up with a lower priced model that looks just as cool. We love the carbon-fiber look on the blades. They’ve also got a smaller version in the works for kid’s rooms that will go for under $500.

Phighter Images makes all kinds of awesome home decor for aircraft buffs, but we’re particularly excited about their ceiling fans, constructed to look like the fans from famous jet engines. They may look the part, but they’re definitely quieter than the real thing.

This turbine powered R/C plane sounds more like an F-16 than a toy, reaching top speeds over 360mph. We have no idea how you can fly and land this thing remotely without crashing it.
