Awesome Iron Man

Illustrator Josh Lynch has an ongoing series of illustrations where he turns Marvel superheroes into dogs. We can’t decide which one we like best. MODOG is probably the right answer, but we love the Mr. Fantastic dachshund so much.

Hot Toys’ 1:6 scale Hulkbuster action figure is now available for pre-order, and it’s a wallet buster. It’s 21″ tall with over 30 points of articulation, 16 LEDs and a chest that opens up to reveal a bust of Iron Man in his Mk. XLIII suit.

At the Toy Soul 2014 convention, Hot Toys unveiled the prototype of its 1:6 Scale Avengers: AoU Hulkbuster.  The 24″ tall toy has large light up parts and a weathered finish. Hot Toys also had a life-size statue of the suit.

Hot Toys’ 1:6 scale model of Tony Stark’s Avengers: Age of Ultron suit. It’s made of die-cast material with realistic metallic paint and weathered finish, 36 points of articulation and a detachable Ultron Mk. I diorama base.

MTV points out the Easter eggs from the past nine Marvel Studios movies – Iron Man to Captain America: The Winter Soldier – from Stan Lee’s cameos, hints to future movies and numerous references to Marvel’s comics.

Mondo Gallery in Austin, Texas teamed up with Marvel and Mike Mitchell to create a series of portraits of the House of Ideas’ heroes and villains. That Deadpool piece is going to sell out immediately. The exhibit runs til 5/17.

Iron Man 3 was one of the disappointments of 2013, but its silly plot doesn’t mean it wasn’t chockful of impressive VFX artistry, as is evidenced in this breakdown of the destruction of Tony Stark’s mansion from Scanline VFX.

(NSFW: Language) Michael Mann made this video summary of Iron Man 1 and 2 for his girlfriend, but they broke up before he finished it. So he’s showing it to us instead. So far his rebound tally stands at about 1.4 million people.

Watch Tony Stark become a pretty soldier as he suits up in the style of the classic Japanese manga Sailor Moon. It was made by freshmen Animation students at the Chungkang College of Cultural Industries.

YouTuber Mr88668866 used clips from various superhero movies and the trailer for DC Universe Online to create a fan trailer for a bank-breaking blockbuster movie. Black Widow and her pistols look even more pitiful here.

(SPOILERS) Screen Junkies tears Tony Stark and his inexplicably flimsy armored suits a new one in this Honest Trailer for Iron Man 3. Seriously this movie was just as confounding and infuriating as Spider-Man 3.

Balloon sculptor and humanitarian Jeff Wright created this epic Iron Man suit in just under 10 minutes. Oh, did we mention that he wears it at the end? Of course all The Mandarin needs to do is bring a pin and it’s game over.

Before shooting big action scenes, directors often commission rough pencil animations to work out the composition and sequencing. Here’s some footage of an epic Iron Man sequence that never made it into The Avengers.

We wish we had the tenacity of this mailman, who probably has the most difficult route ever, which includes the likes of Indiana Jones, Freddy Krueger and Iron Man. Then again, we do enjoy laying on the couch watching cartoons.

(Spoilers) HISHE actually rewrote the whole movie and not just its ending, but that’s fine with us. Perhaps Shane Black thought that the plot twists would hide the inconsistencies and half-assed attempts at tension.
