The C-X75 concept gets refined significantly, resulting in a hybrid 850hp beast, designed to achieve “the speed of a Veyron, the range of a Volt and the CO2 of a Prius.” Goes 0-to-100mph in 6 secs., and is the new object of our desire.
Ferrari’s shiny new $1.3 million hybrid LaFerrari has both a 789hp V12 gas engine and an electric motor that adds another 161hp, blasting you down the track at up to 217mph. This is definitely no Prius.
The Imperia GP is more than just a revival, it’s an upgrade. It has a 1.6L 207-hp engine and a 134hp electric motor, which can be recharged simply via a 220v socket. 0-60 is done in 4s in hybrid mode.
Combining energy-efficiency with sporty handling, the new Panamera hybrid has a 2.9 liter, 333 hp V6, which, combined with an electric motor, hits 380hp, tops out at 168 mph, and gets 34.5 mpg.
Volkswagen says their XL1 diesel hybrid gets more than 260 miles to the gallon with top speed of 100 mph, thanks to the 2 cylinder turbodiesel displacing 800 cc and a battery powered electric motor.
Porsche has revealed their latest concept, the 918 RSR. Combining racetrack technology with the GT3 R Hybrid, the 918 RSR uses a flywheel energy recovery system for added power and traction.
The eROCKIT is a manually powered hybrid bike with top speed of 50mph. The pedals act as battery charger and accelerator; the quicker you pedal the faster it goes. (Thanks for the tip, Gumsandals!)
The ItalDesign-Giugiaro Quaranta hybrid concept car was recently retrofitted taxi-style to shuttle fares around Rome molto veloce, with top speed of 155 mph, 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and 3.3-liter V6.
Designer Filip Tejszerski’s electric-gas hybrid would offer sports car looks and handling. Inspired by jet fighters, the car’s cockpit would seat driver and passenger in-line, instead of side-by-side.
No production plans, but the Lexus hybrid concept bike sounds good: 240 watt electric motor with 25.9 volt lithium battery pack, frame constructed of carbon fiber and 8 speed internal gear system.
