5MadMovieMakers has a little fun with Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi as they zoom along Hot Wheels tracks, performing jumps, spinning through loops, and racing each other in a real-life version of Mario Kart. Using a loop of track as a monowheel was a fun trick we’ve not seen before.

Mattel and Tesla have teamed up to create two remote-controlled toys based on Elon Musk’s crazy looking electric pickup. The 1/64-scale version will sell for 20 bucks, while the 1/10-scale version will go for $400, and even includes “cracked window” stickers. They’re only available in limited quantities, and will ship in December 2020.

We’ve seen some long Hot Wheels tracks over the years, but the Guinness World Records says this one is officially the longest. The record-setting 2,176 ft, 2 in straight track was built by employees of Alfred Benesch & Co., with a little help from their kids.

Author Kris Palmer’s book Hot Wheels: From 0 to 50 at 1:64 Scale offers a look back at the first 50 years of Hot Wheels. It’s packed with rare images from Mattel’s archives, including design sketches and prototypes, and comes packed in a sweet replica Hot Wheels carrying case.

5MadMovieMakers is playing with toy cars again. This time, they lined up a bunch of parallel Hot Wheels tracks with the bars from a xylophone, then launched a series of toy 65′ Ford Mustangs to play a little tune. It was done with some clever video editing, but it’s still fun to watch.

One of the most iconic vehicles in the history of cinema has to be the hairy “Mutt Cutts” van from Dumb and Dumber. Hot Wheels enthusiast baremetalHW decided to replicate the hirsute Ford Econoline van in miniature by modding an off-the-shelf toy.

A few years back, Trackapalooza built what is likely the longest Hot Wheels Sizzlers track ever. Measuring in at 1969 feet long, we’re amazed that the cars had enough power to make it all the way around the fat track. Time-lapse build videos here and here.

While you can certainly just go buy a Hot Wheels set, Mini Gear thinks its more fun to build your own track from scratch. He proves yet again that with cardboard, popsicle sticks, hot glue, and rubber bands, you can make just about anything with enough time and effort.

5MadMovieMakers has a little fun with his new Hot Wheels Zoom GoPro mount, and takes us on wild rides through four tricky loops, corkscrews, and dives, each viewed from three different angles. That reverse perspective of the chase car is great.

Hot Wheels‘ upcoming Zoom In is a toy track car that’s designed to carry a GoPro Session camera, so you can see and record a driver’s-eye view as the toy zips through your tracks. Best of all, the car will be available for just $1.09. More at Gizmodo.

Publisher Assouline is coming out with a hardcover book about one of the world’s most popular toys. Hot Wheels features 300 pages and over 200 illustrations, covering the origins, evolution and even the future of the brand. Featuring a foreword by racer Mario Andretti.

Despite the idiotic sound effects, the corkscrew jump in James Bond’s The Man with the Golden Gun is still one of the greatest car stunts ever. Wekster’s Geeky Stuff designed a 3D printed ramp which lets Hot Wheels cars perform the same trick. Download the STL file here.

The guys over at BangShift shared this clever idea for displaying and collecting Hot Wheels and other similarly-scaled toy cars. Simply scour eBay for the appropriate 1970s-era Chevy pickup grille, hang, and fill. (Thanks Craig!)

Hot Wheels enthusiast nopc4me lined up five custom-lit Sizzlers cars and set them loose around an endless loop on a circle of fat track. The goal? See which car would stay on the track the longest. Choose your favorite color, and place your bets!

The Mad Track Brothers put some flammable cargo on a Hot Wheels car, then let it loose to spin through numerous loops on their twisty Darda track. It’s a cool idea, but the best part is the long-exposure image they captured of the car’s fiery ride. More here.

5MadMovieMakers take us on a hypnotic ride along a track lined with LEDs, glow sticks, lasers, and fire. The first-person view was shot with a GoPro Hero4 Session installed onto a Bull Whip car, which has a convenient mounting location on its roof spoiler.

YouTuber 5MadMovieMakers once again made good use of their Hot Wheels-mounted GoPro Hero Session. This time they built ramps and paths to pull off a variety of car flips and jumps. The resulting POV footage is like Trackmania in real life.

YouTuber 5MadMovieMakers used over 200ft of Hot Wheels tracks, a GoPro Hero4 Session and sharp editing to make it seem like his toy car was teleporting across a wide array of locations – including underwater! – in this fun video.

Jay Leno’s Garage talked to Hot Wheels’ designer and builder about the fully functioning life-size replica of the Darth Vader toy car. It’s amazing how Leno got through such a lengthy interview while barely knowing anything about Star Wars. Test drive at 17:13.

To promote its upcoming line of Star Wars-themed cars, Hot Wheels made a life-size version of the Darth Vader car. It has a 526hp LS3 engine and makes Vader’s heavy breathing sound. Check it out at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Hot Wheels gathers eight Biomen drivers and makes them race and perform stunts along various terrain. It’s a live-action version of the scenarios kids make up while playing with their toy cars… down to the script.
