Awesome Gwar

(PG-13) It’s been seven years since The Onion’s A.V. Undercover released a video. Now owned by Paste, The A.V. Club is back and kicked off a new season with this monstrosity. The trash-covered brutes of GWAR hit the studio and rocked out a very special version of I’m Just Ken from Barbie. The only thing better would be if they sang What Was I Made For? too.

(PG-13: Language) Opposites attract, so naturally, punk-metal band GWAR and NPR hooked up for a Tiny Desk Concert. Blöthar the Berserker held court, saying they brought maestro Wilhelm Fartwrangler along to class things up, then plunged into a surprisingly blood-splatter-free set of Sex Cow, I’ll Be Your Monster, Ratcatcher, and Phantom Limb.

This documentary takes us inside the world of one of the most outrageous acts ever, GWAR. Along with interviews with the band’s members, you’ll hear how the masters of trash metal have influenced everyone from Weird Al to Bam Margera, and the hard work that goes into their fluid-soaked stage shows. Coming to Shudder on 7.21.22.

(PG-13: Language) Like the rest of us, the members of GWAR have been trapped here on earth since the pandemic took hold. The A.V. Club managed to score an intimate acoustic concert session with the legendary intergalactic metal band while quarantined. Incredibly, zero fake blood or guts were spilled during the performance.

Filled with tradition, this time of year just wouldn’t feel right without watching Snoopy, Die Hard, A Christmas Story and the latest addition to TA’s holiday program list: Christmas Carols with GWAR.
