Awesome Frisbee

The unofficial frisbee throwing speed record is 89.5 mph, and the furthest a disc was ever thrown was 1109 feet. We Make Machines attempted to beat both of these records with the help of a motorized disc launcher. After developing a mini disc launcher, scaling up the design to throw a regulation disc was significantly more challenging and dangerous.

Shane from Stuff Made Here has made a career out of cheating at sports through the power of science and engineering. His latest build is a robust machine that can fling frisbees at speeds up to 115 mph. But can he use it without it breaking his arm?

Playtime doesn’t have to end at sundown with the Flashflight Light-up Flying Disc. The LED fave from Nite Ize lets you select from six colors or leave it in color-changing Disc-O mode. Stays lit for up to 20 hours of playtime on a single charge and stays afloat when it lands in the drink.

As we know, there are many ways to open a bottle of beer. However, we never thought of using a frisbee to do it until we saw this clip. Either that bottle had a really loose cap, or that’s one deadly frisbee.

While we didn’t think there was anything wrong with the traditional plastic disc, everything looks better in carbon fiber, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s lightweight and durable too. Though we wouldn’t throw this one to Fido. (Thanks Kane!)
