If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to shrink down and drive inside of a slot car, this video is for you. Project Air teamed up with DIY Perks to create a 200 foot-long slot car track, then rigged the cars with tiny cameras and wireless transmitter, and wore video goggles for a first-person view while driving.
Director Spencer Ford’s music video for the JAWNY track Adios is a masterpiece of drone photography. Its main subject is a muscle car being hooned about a neighborhood while its passenger sings the track in perfect time. Kudos to Jay Christensen and Grant Ridpath for the astounding aerial shots.
The Death Star trench run scene in Star Wars is one of the best action sequences ever – and it was created with practical effects. Star Wars fan Petr N replicated the scene by taking his FPV X-Wing drone for a treacherous flight through a drainage ditch. He’s also got a speeder bike.
DJI latest drone is designed for first-person view flights. It captures 4K/60 fps video with a super-wide angle lens and works with DJI’s FPV Goggles 2 and a motion controller for pilot immersion and easy flying. A built-in propeller guard lets you safely fly in tight locations, and the drone self-corrects if it bumps into something.
There are a number of legitimate robot lawnmowers on the market today, but none are as quite as exciting as the one that I Did a Thing built for himself. Instead of navigating on its own, this robot features an FPV remote control setup, and it looks terrifying. We cringed every time we saw him walking near it without shoes on.
Following a fast-moving mountain bike rider through a narrow urban downhill course poses some serious challenges. In this video, you’ll see how the Dutch Drone Gods pulled off one of the most epic FPV shots ever, chasing MTB rider Tomas Slavic at the Red Bull Valparaiso Cerro Abajo race. (Thanks, Patrick!)
If you’re going to take a tour of Ohio’s National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, it might as well be from the air, right? Well, thanks to NURK FPV, we can take a first-person drone flight through the museum’s awesome collection of aviation marvels without having to leave home.
Aerial videography and photography website AirVūz has announced the winner of its 2021 Drone Video of the Year competition. FPV drone pilot Reme Morales teamed up with editor Preston Chen to create this dizzying cinematic flight reel which we recommend watching on the biggest screen you can get your eyes on.
One place on our travel bucket list is Zambia, Africa’s Victoria Falls. While we’ve yet to visit the falls, drone pilot and photographer Christoph Benfey got us closer to this world wonder than we’ll ever get in person. Shot with a GoPro HERO10 Black camera on an Armattan Marmotte drone frame using DJI’s FPV system.
FPV drone pilot Tony Catapano aka Tonnoz takes us on a flight through the twisty and turny art installation known as Tiger and Turtle. Located in Duisburg, Germany, the interactive sculpture allows visitors to walk along its undulating staircase like a human rollercoaster. It’s especially awesome lit up at night.
New Step Media takes us on a first-person drone flight through the Akademie St.Gallen, a college campus in Switzerland. It must have taken some serious planning and coordination to pull off the continuous three-minute POV shot that zooms in and out of buildings and classrooms. Watch in 4K if you can.
While exploring the jungles of Venezuela, photographer and drone pilot Ellis van Jason visited Angel Falls. While there, he captured some spectacular and dizzying FPV footage of the 3121 foot-tall natural wonder, which holds the record for the tallest waterfall on the planet.
Drone pilot Johnny FPV takes us on an exhilirating off-road journey through the King of the Hammers desert in Johnson Valley, California. Throughout this epic one-shot clip, he stays hot on the tails of SxS racing champions Seth Quintero and Mitch Guthrie Jr.
A precision FPV drone takes us on a tour of MMA fighter and whiskey maker Conor McGregor’s Black Forge Inn, weaving between bartenders and into the kitchen to get us up close and personal with the bar, located in Conor’s Dublin 12 neighborhood. (Thanks, Patrick!)
As pilot Benoit Finck’s drone emerges from the clouds over Normandy, France, it descends into the ancient castle atop the island of Mont Saint-Michel, then flies through the structure and its surroundings, giving us a fantastic first-person view courtesy of his GoPro HERO8 camera.
With the proper pilot at the controls, photography drones can capture visuals that once seemed impossible, like this sequence shot by Jay Christensen. The scene starts outside of Minneapolis’ Bryant Lake Bowl & Theater, zooms down the lanes, through the pinsetters, around the bar, then into the movie theater.
The DJI FPV is designed for ease of use by beginners, and precise control for skilled pilots. It relays instant HD images to its goggles while shooting smooth 4K/60fps video. It’s flown using a standard dual-stick controller or an optional one-handed motion controller. It also has brake-and-hover and return-to-home functions.
Photographer Brandon Rieck of Wanderlust Imagery captured this glorious FPV footage by flying his drone along the top of an ore dock in Marquette, Michigan, then diving down to follow a hockey player skating on the ice below. The transition from above to below is buttery smooth. (Thanks Craig!)
Submarines are notorious for their incredibly close quarters, so you might not think it would be a good place to fly a drone. But with a talented pilot behind the controls, it is possible to negotiate the claustrophobic passageways, like in this video from the Royal Netherlands’ Navy’s 2020 Onderzeedienst Live event.
Drone pilot Shaggy FPV takes us on a ride through the mountains of Austria with breathtaking footage of the Dorfertal Valley he captured with his aerial photography rig. The reverse perspective offers a great sense of speed and changes things up a bit from the typical forward view.
The guys from Rotor Riot rigged up one of the cooler drone mods we’ve seen. By adding a set of four electromagnets beneath a quadrotor’s arms, they were able to land the flying machine sideways on metal surfaces, then release the magnets remotely to continue flying.
Photographer and FPV drone pilot Ellis van Janson takes us on a series of breathtaking flights through the beautifully rocky coastline of Madeira, Portugal. The footage elicits a tremendous sense of speed, while the color grading, direction, and editing give it a truly cinematic look.
Back in 2018, the talented drone pilots of Team BlackSheep headed to Germany’s Bikepark Idarkopf for the Audi Nines mountain bike competition. While there, they followed along with riders and captured some truly outstanding footage of their spins and flips. Their ski and snowboard footage is equally amazing.
First-person drone pilot NURK FPV takes us on a fun ride-along with his pals as they take to the California desert in AXA’s powerful sand rail ATVs and kick up sand from the dunes. Play it in full-screen for maximum immersion, and catch more footage from the outing on Rotor Riot.
