Amazon’s Kindle 2 is official: 0.36″ thick, 10.2 oz, 25% longer battery life, 20% faster page turning, text-to-speech, 7x storage, and a five-way controller for easier skimming; ships 2/24.
If Amazon’s Kindle and Sony’s Reader give you wallet-aches, Foxit’s more affordable eSlick may do the trick; it’s priced a full $100 under the Kindle, albeit minus the wireless frills.
A direct challenge to Amazon’s Kindle, Sony’s PRS-700 is an ebook reader with a 6″ touchscreen that reads finger swipes; there’s still no wireless, but we dig the slate color scheme.
