Awesome Dune

AMC’s promotional Dune 2 popcorn bucket is the subject of many memes. While most of us can’t get our minds out of the gutter, Adam Savage saw the cursed bucket top as an opportunity to build a geeky diorama, turning the bucket back into a proper sandworm by building a foam and resin sand dune and adding a tiny Paul Atreides and a 3D-printed ornithopter.

To celebrate the release of Dune: Part Two, watchmaker Hamilton teamed up with the film’s prop master to create this unique timepiece. The limited-edition Ventura Edge Dune watch features Hamilton’s signature shield-shaped case with a matte black PVD coating and a blue digital display with an extra bright outline mode. They also have a Dune analog watch.

The sand castles we built when we were kids were basic structures in the shape of buckets. On the other hand, Leonardo Ugolini uses sand to make true works of art. In this time-lapse video by Ivents Kulturagentur, Ugolini built a sculpture of one of the sandworms from 2021’s Dune, using sand from the movie’s set.

Despite its inconclusive final act, we enjoyed Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. But what if Timothée Chalomet were replaced with another star? We’re talking about none other than Sesame Street’s Elmo. YouTube channel Sesame Swap subjected the inquisitive red muppet to the Bene Gesserit and the deadly Gom Jabbar.

With terminology like Bene Gesserit, Gom Jabbar, and Kwisatz Haderach, the dialogue in Dune already sounds a bit like gibberish. But that didn’t stop Bad Lip Reading from putting their comedic spin on Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Be sure to check out the full music video for Heaven Drips.

Denis Villeneuve’s introduction to the world of Dune was truly epic but left audiences hanging in the end. Screen Junkies throws a little shade at the filmmaker for living up to some grand expectations, then yanking the rug out from under us right before the credits rolled.

“Warner’s wouldn’t send a screener… so I’ve only seen the trailer.” Sweetlegs presents a rap song about Denis Villeneuve’s much-anticipated and frequently-delayed adaptation of Dune, and reminds us that fear is the mind-killer when it comes to trying to figure out if it’s going to be good or not before it comes out.

Director Denis Villeneuve’s take on Dune is almost here, and it looks spectacular.
