Awesome Drifting

Driver Anton Avdeyev likes to take his son Timofey for thrill rides in his Toyota JZ86 drift car, pulling mad G-forces and burning massive amounts of rubber. It’s an annual tradition, in which Timofey’s expressions keep getting better.

To promote its EDGE product line, Castrol enlisted Matt Powers to drift his 650hp Ford Mustang while wearing an Oculus Rift that simulated a course filled with daunting obstacles. Watch the 360° version here. BTS video here.

Bartosz Ostałowski lost both of his arms in a traffic collision in 2006. But that didn’t stop him from becoming a professional drift racer. He has a custom setup in his race car, but his daily drivers are unmodified.

Despite its tremendous torque, it’s not exactly easy to make a Tesla Model S go sideways, Japanese pro drifter Nobuteru Taniguchi proves that it’s at least sort of possible as he burns rubber in the electric executive sedan.

We’re not buying Leona Chin’s schoolgirl makeover, but when this professional drift racer gets behind the wheel with driving instructors pretending to be a newbie, the results are hilarious.

Kuma Films caught up with a group of talented drift racers going sideways around Yokohama, Japan’s WARU Circuit. But these guys can’t fit inside their cars, instead they hoon around the scale track using remote controls. (Thanks Todd!)

Motorhead Magazine assembled cars and drivers from various motorsports on the Mazda Turnpike in Hakone, Japan, where drifters and enthusiasts hone their craft. Masato Kawabata and his Nissan GT-R paid homage pretty damn well.

Formula Drift racer Ryan Tuerck and 11 other talented drivers took their cars into a syncronized drift around the track at Pat’s Acres Racing Complex in Oregon. While there was a little fender rubbing, the overall feat is spectacular.

Driver Rickard Nilsson and his racing team took another old tractor and turned it into a 225 horsepower driftmobile. Watch as Rickard hoons around, burning rubber, and only flipping the top-heavy vehicle once. We love roll cages!

BMW may be late to the flash mob fad, but they make up for it in execution. The carmaker had five Hollywood stunt drivers conjure a cacophony of squeals and screeches all over a roundabout in South Africa using the nimble M235i.

Behind the wheel of this powerful 2500hp Peterbilt semi is stunt driver Mike Ryan, as he does his best Ken Block impression hooning around between freight containers and evading capture. Ignore the acting. Enjoy the driving.

We were recently in Vegas checking out the Lexus F-Sport line when this happened. Yes, that’s champion rally car driver Ken Gushi playing a little game of roulette by drifting in a Lexus IS F. It was even more fun inside the car.

Matt Sanders captures the release of Monster Energy’s Ernie Vigil and Nick Brocha after three long years in the pokey on 204 hp Triumph Daytona sportbikes – hotly pursued by a two lawmen in a road buggy and custom ride.

It’s not as nimble as a Ford Fiesta, but we’re still impressed with the tight turns, donuts and drifts pulled off by Michiel Becx in his semi. Those tire squeals are like music to our ears. Now who’s gonna clean up all that broken glass?

Pro drifter Dominic Tiroch and former Red Bull World Air Race champ Hannes Arch engage in a death-defying gymkhana match. Even better, they’re actually playing two games at once. Arch is one heck of a daredevil.

You might have thought that drifting around corners was an activity reserved for motorized vehicles, but it turns out that just like the Internet, cats are trying to horn in on mankind’s leisure activities once again.

Red Bull scored the drive of a lifetime, closing off New Zealand’s hairpin-filled Crown Range highway so driver “Mad Mike” Whiddett could burn it up with his 750hp Mazda RX7 as a helicopter captured his hooning from above.

(NSFW: Language) Pro drifters Ryan Tuerck and Chris Forsberg play their sport’s version of H-O-R-S-E. They take on a variety of challenges, some silly, some ridiculous but all fun to watch.

Watch YouTuber DRIFT 44 slide his remote-controlled car into tight parking spaces and execute other drifting maneuvers. It’s not as impressive as the real thing, but it looks like a lot of fun to do.
