Bentleys are among the most extravagant cars ever made. Carwow lined up four of the British luxury cars to see how their performance has evolved. The drag race between a modern Continental GT Speed, a 1990s Continental R Mulliner, a 1980s Bentley Turbo R, and a 93-year-old Bentley Blower goes just as you’d expect.
Motor Trend has been producing its World’s Greatest Drag Race series since 2011. Now look back at a decade worth of amazing sports cars battling it out for straight line supremacy, from the original Nissan GT-R to the McLaren Senna to the Porsche 911 Turbo S. It’s worth watching just for the exhaust notes alone.

In a quest for straight-line supremacy, MotorTrend gathered a dozen of the fastest sports cars money can buy. With cars like the McLaren Senna, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Jaguar XE SV Project 8, and Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, it’s gonna be a tough competition down the runway – first in a 1/4-mile, then in a 1/2-mile drag race.
A 1/4-mile time of 15.495 seconds isn’t exactly earth-shaking. But this is no ordinary car – it’s a small building. Watch as Kevin Nicks‘ converted 1999 VW Passat with an Audi RS4 drivetrain manages to beat a Vauxhall Astra H in a drag race. Apparently the shed has done the same in as little as 14.6 seconds, and tops out at 112.68 mph.
Well here’s something you don’t often see at the dragstrip – a guy wearing a jetpack racing against a Dodge Challenger. Sadly, it doesn’t appear that he really went that fast or even finished 1/4 mile, but it’s still an awesome sight.
We’ve seen plenty of smoky burnouts, but these guys took things to another level by spinning the tires of a dragster in a pool of flaming gasoline. It’s a short clip, but like the old saying goes, “The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long.”
