Awesome Dining Tables

Most dining tables can be expanded lengthwise by adding a section called a leaf. Dealingindesign shows off a mechanical table from teambywellis that can expand its width to seat extra diners at its ends. Instead of a leaf, its center section expands with the turn of a crank. There are spaces between the slats, but placemats or a runner should fix that.

Boise, Idaho’s Alpine Wood Co. makes extraordinary furniture from wood, metal, and resin. Among their collection is this beautiful black walnut dining table with a deep blue river of resin running through its center. It comes in sizes ranging from 48″ x 30″ to 96″ x 48″, with the larger models doubling as a ping pong table. Benches sold separately.

Artist Greg Frehr creates these playful dining tables that replace ordinary chairs with swings.
