Magnetic interactions can be so satisfying. Take, for instance, this grid of 15 gears that spin when just one of them is turned. MagnetTricks set up this brief physics demonstration using hundreds of magnets arranged into a rainbow of colors. We wonder if there’s a limit to how many gears you could have before the chain reaction stops working.

Istanbul, Turkey artist Woodmess Design Studio creates these eye-catching modern cuckoo clocks. Each handcrafted clock is made from layers of birch plywood embellished with colorful paints and varnish. It’s easy to find LED grids that can be programmed to display animations. So this build by Dr. Tõnis Gadgets that uses fiber optics to direct light into a smaller matrix seems unnecessarily complicated.
