Awesome Chalk

Chalk seems like a pretty basic thing, but it’s still interesting to see how it’s made. Process X takes us inside of the Tenjin Chalk factory which mashes powdered calcium carbonate with water and extrudes it into cylinders before slicing it into pieces. They add colorings and pour the mixture into molds for gypsum chalk.

It’s been a while since we checked in with the guys at SoKrispyMedia, with their last Chalk Warfare video debuting back in 2014. Now, they’ve drawn their chalk weapons once again, and headed back to the battlefield to give us their most epic action and VFX sequence yet. We loved the R/C car and gravity gun made out of chalk.

Watch as YouTuber Blackhand takes a stick of ordinary blackboard chalk and carefully carves it into a chain, with individual, interlocking links. It’s a delicate, messy, and nerve-wracking process, but the result is rather impressive.

Artist Chris Carlson takes to his chalkboard canvas once more – this time with a recreation of a classic video game. At first it doesn’t look that immersive, but look at the shadows around Chris’ and Ryu’s feet, and it seems as if he’s been dropped into the game.

We’ve seen several fun things from Chris Carlson, and the hits keep on coming, this time in the form of an anamorphic 3D painting of a SkeeBall game, with some fun time lapse and stop-motion.
