The first episode of Louis du Mont’s short animated series about a tiny spaceman who lands on Earth and must find negotiate our planet to assemble the resources he needs to return home. We look forward to seeing more of his journey.

YouTuber megasteakman and his friends animated the land of Hyrule from the original The Legend of Zelda in the style of Game of Thrones’ opening sequence. Mattia Cupelli provided the hybrid score.

Gametime414 remade part of BioShock‘s opening sequence using CryEngine 3. If you think this isn’t much of an improvement then nostalgia’s gotten the better of you. The game still looks fine though, considering it came out eight years ago.

Animator David Gruwier borrowed a little processing time on a render farm while interning for a VFX studio to produce this short, but impressive animation which breathes life into an otherwise inanimate object – a toy train set.

An amazingly gorgeous scene rendered using the same engine used in many of today’s video games. The scene was generated entirely in real time, proving that with enough hardware – and 3D artistry – movie quality animations are possible.

Don Hertzfeldt’s World of Tomorrow sees a child taken to the far future by her older self, “covering everything from the perils of discount time travel to the benefits of programming robots to fear death”, says The Film Experience. Out 3/31/15.

To continue their journey, two explorers tirelessly repair the only bridge over a vast chasm. Le Gouffre (The Chasm) is a simple story, but that such a polished animated film could come from just a three person team is mind-blowing.

Because it’s in synchronous rotation with our planet, the Moon always faces Earth on one side, aka the near side. But thanks to the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, NASA was able to map the far side of the Moon.

Sola Digital Arts’ unofficial animated short film is set in an alternate universe of Neon Genesis Evangelion, but what unfolds will be familiar to fans of the series. Eva Unit Null is being tested when – surprise! – it runs amok.

A computer animated simulation of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy. It will be the world’s most powerful operational rocket, able to lift the equivalent of a fully-loaded Boeing 737 into orbit. It will also support reusable booster rockets.

While this static scene of a Paris apartment isn’t exactly the most dynamic of settings, it serves as an impressive demonstration of the detail and photorealism that can be achieved with an off-the-shelf graphics engine.

Conan wanted to have an episode of his late night show animated in Minecraft, but Mojang shot the idea down. So that’s not happening. You might as well close the video when you get to the 1:06 mark because there’s nothing to see here.

Animation studio Simpals has a recurring character called Dji. He’s an angel of death who often bungles on the job. Here he gets distracted while waiting for a shipwrecked pirate to pass away. Check out his other misadventures here.

A cab driver wakes up in a car wreck with the city in ruins. Before he has time to figure out what happened, zombies appear. Isolated is an intriguing and realistic computer animated short. We hope they finish the story.
