Awesome Castlevania

That Works take on a video game weapon that dates back all the way to 1986. But rather than the pixelated flail found in the 8-bit Castlevania, they built a replica of the one Trevor Belmont finds in the 21st century animated series. It’s a painstaking process to build such a complex weapon using blacksmithing techniques.

Part of Konami’s 50th anniversary celebration, the Castlevania Anniversary Collection is a digital bundle that comes with eight classic games from the series, as well as an eBook with details from developers and artists. Available on Windows, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch for $20.

Fans of the vampire hunting video games will be thrilled to see this animated series headed to Netflix. But this is no 8-bit NES game for kiddies. It’s dark, bloody, violent, and “R-rated as f**k.” We’re super excited its showrunner is Adi Shankar, of POWER/RANGERS fame.

Mondo kicks off its celebration of Castlevania‘s 30th anniversary – damn, we’re old! – with a double-sided 10″ vinyl of the NES/Famicom original. The cover, sleeve and vinyl art was done by comic book artist Becky Cloonan (East Coast Rising, Batman).

Dracula is besieged by powerful forces. Satan himself is amassing forces to exact revenge, and the Belmonts are coming for their errant kin’s head. Lords of Shadow 2 will see the conclusion of Gabriel Belmont’s tragic tale.
