Awesome Carpets

It may not look like much, but this officially licensed Star Wars Millennium Falcon rug is sure to delight fans of the franchise. It measures 79″x 104″ and has a rubber grip at the bottom to hold it in place. A smaller version is also available.

Heeeere’s an expensive way to pay homage to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Film and Furniture offers an officially licensed rug that bears the iconic pattern of the Overlook Hotel’s carpet. The rug measures about 95″x 67″. It’s also available as a runner.

They may not be as thought-provoking as Antonio Santin’s work, but Jason Seife’s take on realistic carpet paintings are no less impressive. Not limited by history or fabric, Seife often takes liberties in his choice of colors and canvas.

Azerbaijan artist Faig Ahmed combines the Middle Eastern style of carpet making with urban art and digital media, creating pieces that look like they’re just altered images but are actually purely embroidered.

King of Sweden sells large rugs made of the leather and fabric labels from discarded jeans. The labels are stitched together over a sheet of cotton. If you have enough old jeans lying around you could try this idea yourself.
