Awesome Biopic

The trend of brand biopics continues with this movie about the meteoric rise and fall of Beanie Babies. It follows the story of toy salesman Ty Warner, who worked with three women to create this pop culture juggernaut of the 1990s. Stars Zach Galifianakis, Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Snook, and Geraldine Viswanathan and premieres 7.28.23 on Apple TV+.

Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton star in this lighthearted dramatization of the rise and fall of Research in Motion, the company that created the Blackberry. What started as a pager on steroids became a worldwide phenomenon – then the business collapsed in a similarly spectacular fashion. In theaters 5.12.23.

This movie dramatizes the story of Roger Sharpe, an NYC journalist who escapes from his stress by playing pinball, only to realize that the game is still illegal in the city. In 1976, he helped mount a campaign to overturn the 34-year ban and prove that pinball is a game of skill, not a game of chance. In theaters 3.17.23.

Before you start scratching your head, Tetris doesn’t feature a bunch of animated anthropomorphic puzzle blocks. Instead, it’s based on the true story of the man who invented it, the publisher who discovered it, and the hurdles he faced in licensing it from the USSR for Nintendo’s Game Boy handheld. Coming to Apple TV+ 3.31.23.

Despite the behind-the-scenes drama, our first look at the Queen biopic looks really promising, with Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek truly transforming himself into the persona of lead singer Freddie Mercury, and a soundtrack filled with some of the greatest songs of all time.
