Awesome Avatar

Seven years after Ryan Gosling’s character struggled to comprehend the use of the Papyrus font in Avatar, the troubled graphic designer thought he had finally moved on. Then, in an instant, he was forced to confront his demons again after seeing the logo for the sequel. At least they didn’t use Comic Sans.

New Zealand’s Wētā Workshop takes us behind the scenes to look at the incredible costume work that went into Avatar: The Way of Water. The outfits took an average of 200 hours each to create, and artists applied over a million beads. Each real-world costume was then digitized for use on CGI character models.

James Cameron goes all-in on CGI and 3D with the long-awaited sequel to Avatar. The Way of Water follows the continuing story of the Sully family as Jake, Neytiri, and their children battle to keep each other safe against a new series of threats from those who wish to exploit their world. Expect lots of underwater action this time.

Avoid it if you haven’t seen Avatar yet, but Creating the World of Pandora is an excellent look behind the scenes; it covers visual effects, sound effects and actor training.
