Awesome Asus

It’s not as thin as their new Eee PC, but Asus’ new U/UX laptops have notable features: a 15.6″ LED-backlit display plus a backlit chiclet keyboard and trackpad definitely raise eyebrows.

Asus’ 10″ Eee PC 1008HA is a netbook in a sleek form factor clearly inspired by the MacBook Air; specs: 1″ thick, 2.4 lbs, Atom 1.6GHz CPU, Windows XP, 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD.

Asus’ 16″ Lamborghini VX5 is an uber-laptop with the looks to match; the first with a 1TB SSD, it also includes an NVIDIA GT130M with 1GB RAM, 4GB RAM and Intel Core 2 Quad CPU.

Created in part thanks to input from WePC.com, the Asus Dual-Screen Laptop may be a work in progress but is plenty tantalizing; the keyboard is replaced entirely with a second display.

Asus’ Marine Cool is a concept motherboard with two key innovations: a micro-porous ceramic backplate designed to dissipate heat and SO-DIMM slots in place of DIMMs.

Asus’ full touchscreen P835 is noteworthy: it not only features a large 3.5″ WVGA screen, 5MP camera, and HSPA speeds, but can also serve as a Wi-Fi access point for up to 10 devices.

The first Garmin-Asus nuvifone to run WinMo 6.1, the M20 features a 2.8″ TFT touch lens display, 4GB/8GB storage, EDGE/HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, real-time traffic and navigation.

They sound like an odd couple, but Garmin and Asus are partnering on the nuvifone G60, a navi-focused cellphone which will feature 3.5G speeds, a Webkit-browser and a touchscreen.

While Patrick Dotimas’ gaming tablet/desktop Asus Stealth doesn’t exactly seem stealthy, his concept presents an interesting form factor: a keyboard that is stowed away when not in use.

Too large to be a netbook with a 12.1″ screen yet running an Intel Atom CPU, Asus’ S121 appears to be an upsized Eee S101 with a larger keyboard and chintzy textures aplenty.

Asus’ Eee PC 1002HA is their mid-range “style” netbook, with a brushed aluminum case, Atom N270 CPU, 1 GB RAM and 160 GB HDD. The two-cell battery seems weak, but lasts 5 hours.

The Asus P565’s 800 MHz CPU makes it one of the fastest WinMo smartphones ever; it also has HSDPA speeds, a 2.8″ touchscreen, bluetooth and a custom Glide UI.

Asus’ N80V looks like the N20A; however, this 14.1″ laptop has a tantalizing feature set, including an LED backlit screen, 512MB GeForce 9300M GS, HDMI out and optional Blu-ray.

The Asus N20A is the N10’s big bro, with a 12.1″ screen, Core 2 Duo, Bluetooth and 3G. Curiously, it’s stuck with Intel’s X4500 chipset, instead of the N10’s Nvidia 9300M.

Like their Eee notebooks and PCs, Asus’ Atom powered Eee Top is not a powerful system. However, its clean, all-in-one form factor and touchscreen LCD make it an ideal second PC.

LIke Toshiba’s X306, the 17″ Asus G71 gaming laptop is one of the first to sport a quad core CPU; it also has a 512MB GeForce 9700M GT card and supports up to two 500 GB drives.

Asus’ liquid-cooled CG6155 desktop has a pretty tight case, but it’s the nForce 790i mobo that takes the cake, with 3-Way SLI and up to 8 GB DDR3 RAM. It even packs a fingerprint scanner.

Asus’ Eee PC 901 has dropped by $100, from $600 to $500; we suspect it’s due to competition from other netbooks, including Dell’s Inspiron Mini 9 and the Acer Inspire One.

Formerly known as as the EcoBook, the Asus Bamboo Series of notebooks target green users with a bamboo case and efficient power usage; choose from 11.1 and 12.1 inch models.

The Asus N10 netbook drops the “Eee” brand in an attempt to focus on its higher-end features. It features a 10.2″ screen, glossy case, fingerprint reader and HDMI out are included.

Hot Hardware has a review up of the Asus Eee Box B202. Like the Dell Studio Hybrid, however, the Eee Box’s value lies mostly with its small form factor and low power consumption.
