(Gore) Eclectic Method pays tribute to one of the greatest anime films of all time, with this funky remix of sound bites from Katsuhiro Otomo’s visionary 1988 cyberpunk classic Akira. We were hoping to see a bit more of Neo-Tokyo though.

The long-awaited second season of the hilarious anime One-Punch Man is… still far away. Premiering on April 2019, the new season sees Saitama, Genos and the other heroes facing new villains, including the most powerful human on Earth.

Bandai Namco’s Jump Force is a 3D fighting game that feature’s some of the most famous anime heroes and villains from Weekly Shonen Jump. The characters include Goku, Luffy, Naruto, Gon, Deku, Ichigo, Yusuke and more. It also has a robust character creator.

Netflix just added a legend to its growing library of anime. Originally released in 1995, Neon Genesis Evangelion is a bizarre, complex and beautiful series about psychic teenagers piloting bio-mechs to combat giant monsters. Premieres Spring 2019.

The Ultraman manga that started in 2011 is a sequel to the classic Ultraman TV show. Now it’s getting a CGI series on Netflix. In the new story, a boy inherits the power of Ultraman from his father, who was the original hero. Premieres 4/1/19.

(SPOILERS) ScreenPrism looks at the work of director Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, The Boy and The Beast, Mirai). Some are calling Hosoda the next Hayao Miyazaki. Regardless, his films are about exploring love in everyday life.

From filmmaker Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Wolf Children, The Boy and the Beast) comes another charming animated film. Mirai is about a boy who gets jealous of his baby sister, until he meets the future version of her. Premieres 11/29/18.

Dmitry Grozov aka Ahriman made this awesome fan trailer for Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in the style of ’70s anime, complete with Japanese dub. It’s not as smooth or sharp as OtaKing’s legendary TIE Fighter, but the jankiness only adds nostalgia.

Rick and Morty is more than wild enough to be an anime. Malec shows us just how it would look like if done in the style of Japanese animation with this dramatic introduction sequence. Rick seems way too kindhearted here though.

Man at Arms: Reforged‘s latest build is the iconic sakabatou, or the reverse blade katana from Rurouni Kenshin aka Samurai X. They also go over the sword’s meaning as well as historical trivia about swordsmiths and samurai.

DC Comics‘ latest Batman animated movie is now available on digital, Blu-ray and DVD. Batman Ninja is a decidedly Japanese and anime-flavored take on the Caped Crusader, featuring various anime styles of imagery and over-the-top action sequences.

Ash Thorp and XiaoLin “Zaoeyo” Zeng are huge fans of Katsuhiro Otomo’s classic anime, AKIRA, so they did what any superfans with the time and artistic talent would do, they created an eye-popping animated tribute to the film. It’s way too short, but still amazing.

(PG-13: Language) Despite their heritage, commercial success and inherent coolness, giant robots are not as popular today as they once wer. Gigguk charts the history of the mecha genre, its influence on anime and why it’s not as popular as it used to be.

UNIQLO is teaming up with Japanese manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump for a collection of t-shirts. The tees include some of the manga’s big hits, such as Hunter x Hunter and One Piece, as well as classics like Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragon Ball. That Yamcha shirt!

The Dark Knight is somehow transported to 15th century Japan. To his surprise, he finds medieval versions of some of his enemies and allies waiting for him. From Kill la Kill writer Kazuki Nakashima and Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki comes Batman Samurai Ninja.

(PG-13, Gore) A spy hunts the man behind sudden genocides in poor countries. An animated adaptation of Satoshi Ito’s novel, Genocidal Organ is as ominous, dense and action-packed as Metal Gear Solid. It’s no coincidence – Ito was Hideo Kojima’s friend.
