A stop-motion animation about the origin and the pivotal developments in the field of typography. Ben Barrett-Forrest does a great job of explaining the differences and the rationale behind different typefaces.

Boston-based artist Jake Fried has created a very entertaining, minute long animation with ink, gouache, white-out and coffee, drawn by hand. You might want to watch it more than once – the details are rich and fleeting.

Animator Jonny Lawrence plays a round of Street Fighter – but instead of choosing from the standard characters, he decides to go off the board and use his own hand. A clever animation drawn entirely on a whiteboard.

(Gore) We don’t advocate the roadkill hood ornament aspect of this stop-motion chip, but we couldn’t resist the insane vehicular combat between the two tiny wheeled opponents in this animation by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. oo. oo.

Maddie Sharafian and her family love to cook for each other. The CalArts student made this animated short to show “how meaningful it is to make food for someone you love.” The song is Águas de Marco by Elis Regina.

Director Adam Patch made this short film to accompany his wife Morgan’s drunk comedy routine. Two Chips proves that in many cases, the success of a joke relies almost entirely on its delivery.

A pair of hands constantly moving between three and two dimensions. Vimeo contributor Willie Witte created this mesmerizing screenception using simple but effective photography and editing.

(Spoilers) An amusing and spot-on LEGO video game parody based on the first four seasons of Breaking Bad, created by animator Brian Anderson. We’re guessing that LEGO wouldn’t approve, but we most certainly do.

Hardware giant IBM made the world’s tiniest animation using carbon monoxide molecules. The stop-motion short was made using 5,000 atoms and can only be seen when it’s magnified 100 million times. Watch the making-of here.

(NSFW) A scientifically accurate Spider-Man is no superhero. Being an actual Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle isn’t much better either. At least it has its perks, though they don’t have anything to do with fighting crime.

MU is bustling with all kinds of odd characters, and we see how competitive they are as the students try to get into the Scare Program in the official trailer for Monsters University.

Ad studio Will & Tale presents their own take on the title sequence for Man of Steel. It summarizes Superman’s origin story, which makes it a bit redundant with the movie itself, but it’s still very well made.

(NSFW: Language) ADHD waxes nostalgic about the 1980s and 1990s in this pixelated animation which longs for a kinder gentler time, before we had to grow up and be adults. Oh, who are we kidding? We still play video games every day.

A lazy man hears of a wonderful product that automates everyday tasks. Gadget freaks and Internet addicts will be able to guess how this plays out. A wonderfully animated short film made by Auke de Vries.

Ratchet and Clank’s snarky sense of humor is coming to the big screen, with a feature-length 3D CGI movie in 2015. We sure hope animation studio Rainmaker Entertainment can successfully take the reins from Insomniac.

(Offensive humor) Nicholas Smal and Gareth Allison turn the tables on Mister Epic Mann’s viral video about how animals eat. Who knew hippos were such douchebags? Seriously though America, stop doing that.

1A4 Studio’s hyperactive speedruns just get better and better. Their latest episode takes on Star Wars Episode IV. It actually does a good job of summarizing the movie while sneaking in a couple of jokes.

Felix Colgrave’s Man Spaghetti is a purely odd animated short that tells the story of… well actually, we have no idea what it’s about. But it’s weird. Awesomely weird. (Thanks Cornel!)

While it’s surely done with CGI animation, we’re still impressed by Aatma Studio’s epic domino display that looks like it was made with 10,000 iPhone 5s. Though it would have been even cooler with $2+ million worth of actual iPhones.

A boy and his dog crash land in the middle of nowhere in outer space. With their oxygen running out, the question becomes less about extending their lives and more about what they should do with what little time they have left.

(NSFW) ADHD presents its own take on the meta-movie trailer, complete with a literal theme song and action-packed scenes that give away all the good parts of its non-existent meta-movie.

French studios Théoriz Crew and BKYC combined a large wall painting with projection mapped 3D animation and a Kinect to create a living, interactive mural. Read more about it on The Creators Project.
