Alpina celebrates 50 years of tuning BMW cars with souped up editions of the Series 5 and Series 6. The B5 Edition 50 and B6 Edition 50 both have a twin turbocharged 4.4L V8 that produces up to 600hp and 590lb.ft. of torque.
Big, bold numerals lend Alpina’s Extreme Chrono Double Digit a sharp industrial flair; it also boasts brushed steel indices, dual chrono counters, a PVD bezel, and signature Alpina screws.
Alpina’s Extreme Divers lines get yellow, orange, blue and black models for Spring/Summer 2009; each sports a black PVD case, 1,000m water resistance and sapphire crystal.
Two noteworthy watches for Alpina in 2009: the 257-piece Extreme celebrates the “12 Hours of Sebring” race, while the 18-piece Extreme Tourbillon features a silicon escapement wheel.
The separate hour and minute hands on Alpina’s Avalanche Extreme watch are unusual, but we dig the stainless steel, sapphire crystal construction and slick manual styling.
