How to Make a Mirror

While most mirrors today are made in big factories, UK ornamental glass artist David Smith shows us how to do it the old school way. It’s done by taking a clean sheet of glass, pouring silver nitrite on one side, then carefully moving it to evenly coat its surface.

Creating a mirror using Silver Nitrate with @nikglas_ This shows the chemical reaction once it is poured onto the glass. A warm workshop and also warm containers of liquid during winter months work the best, summer time is even better for making mirrors. Please note. Safety warning. Using these chemicals should only be done by professionals.
