A reboot of Carl Sagan’s classic series, this epic 14-part documentary stars astrophysics badass Neil deGrasse Tyson – and is produced, surprisingly, by Seth MacFarlane. Coming to FOX in 2014. (Thanks, Wille from Feber!)

While we’ve had it up to here with movies being released in 3D for no good reason, we’re thinking that Metallica’s epic new concert film – which entwines a story about a roadie on a mission – will be well worth a watch in IMAX 3D.

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is based on the memoir of revolutionary and former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela – played by Idris Elba. He fought apartheid and was imprisoned for 27 years before becoming President.

This comedy series centered on two small-time criminals who don’t commit misdeeds serious enough to get nabbed – while unknowingly using a camera rigged sting car – looks pretty promising. Let’s hope we get to see more.

The 2013 Comic-Con trailer for the next season of The Walking Dead has hordes of zombies, Michonne on a horse, much more of Tyreese and crew, and what looks like the end of prison living. October 13th can’t arrive soon enough.

(NSFW: Language) The extended SDCC ’13 trailer, as Kick Ass, Hit Girl, Colonel Stars and Stripes and friends take on Red Mist The Motherf**ker, and his motley crew in the sequel to the ultra-violent, but ultra-awesome original.

Final Fantasy XV has a real-time battle system similar to Kingdom Hearts. Switch between characters on the fly and chain attacks with various weapons to make combos. Coming in 2014 on the PS4 and the Xbox One.

This gory, action-packed comic aims to explain the origins of evil. We don’t know much yet, but it has something to do with an ex-con who discovers he’s descended from angels. All we know is the art looks amazing.

A documentary about Jesse Heiman, aka the World’s Greatest Extra. The film is about Jesse’s unusual claim to fame, and the biggest question of his career: should a professional nobody try and become somebody?

Christian Bale stars as a steel mill worker who does what he must to rescue his brother (Casey Affleck) from a deadly crime ring. Its all-star cast includes Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker, Zoe Saldana, Sam Shepard and Willem Dafoe.

Joel Allen Schroeder’s Dear Mr. Watterson explores the legacy and the influence of Bill Watterson and his comic strip Calvin & Hobbes, not just with his readers but with fellow cartoonists and artists as well.

In How to Train Your Dragon 2, Hiccup and Toothless have become explorers. But one of their discoveries threatens to tear apart dragons and men once again. And none of that is in the teaser. It’s still fun to watch though.

Ultra Street Fighter IV will bring gameplay tweaks, new features and five new characters. It will be a $15 add-on for those who own SSF IV or SSF IV AE; but it will also be available as a standalone disc (with bonus content) for $40.

A new trailer for Mike Grier’s crowdfunded short Dust. People’s fondness for technology led them to neglect nature. Not that nature needed them to survive; in fact they’re about to find out that it could be the other way around.

The documentary I Know That Voice features a who’s who of voice actors, including Tara Strong, Nolan North, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. The movie is already finished; check its Facebook page for the release date.

Haifaa al-Mansour’s Wadjda is the first feature-length film by a female Saudi director. Beyond its historical significance, it also seems like a good growing-up story told from a culture and setting that we rarely see in movies.

(NSFW: Language) Director Spike Lee’s intense take on Park Chan-wook’s thriller about an ad exec (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years. He’s suddenly released, but the psychological torture continues.

The original creators of Child’s Play – including actor Brad Dourif and his maniacal laugh – return to creep out a whole new generation. Ironically, Dourif’s real-life daughter plays the protagonist. Out on Blu-ray and DVD 10/8/13.

A documentary by Zachary Heinzerling about the “chaotic 40-year marriage” of accomplished artists Ushio and Noriko Shinohara. Cutie and the Boxer looks at the evolution and endurance of their relationship.

A film about the Solar System by Stephen van Vuuren. In Saturn’s Rings was made by stitching together over one million photographs taken by various satellites as well as from spacecraft, observatories and more. Best watched in HD.

The second trailer for Jim Rash and Nat Faxon’s growing up comedy The Way, Way Back sees a young man find his confidence under the guidance of Sam Rockwell. Lucky kid. The song is Fitzpleasure by Alt-J.

Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest has received mixed reviews from critics for its reportedly extreme violence and preference of style over substance. At the very least, we got some new music out of it: the track is 2020 by Suuns.
