Filmmaker Fabrice Mathieu imagines that the Chinese spy balloon actually came from outer space, and it’s not the only one. In fact, an immense inflatable invasion is headed our way. Fabrice used footage from various movies (and music by Danny Elfman) to give his short film a great 1950s sci-fi vibe.

To celebrate the awards, Screen Junkies looks back at the movies nominated for Best Picture and offers their snarky take on some great films like the wildly inventive Everything Everywhere All at Once and the enigmatic Banshees of Inisherin.

Musician Todd Barriage specializes in pop-punk and emo remakes of popular songs. Among his covers is this version of Ricky Martin’s mega-hit Livin La Vida Loca as if it was also the Sum 41 track Still Waiting. He nailed the sound, but Todd’s look is more “Weird Al” Yankovic than Deryck Whibley.

Woodworker Paul Jackman’s latest reclaimed pallet wood project is a biggie, literally. After facing off in a table tennis tourney with fellow maker Giaco Whatever, he decided the best way to make sure no balls got past him was to build an oversize ping pong paddle. Using a Dremel rotary tool to power an R/C helicopter seems like a really stupid idea. But Peter Sripol is the guy who built an airplane out of an angle grinder, and a gas-powered NERF blaster, so if anyone can pull it off, it’s him. But there’s much more to engineering a helicopter than just slapping a rotor onto the Dremel.

The reason for shaking dice before rolling them is to randomize them from their starting positions. But the guys at Atypyk Paris seem to think that shaking dice also makes their pips move around. Their nonsensical Shaken wood dice come with the dots already shaken for you. Another first-world problem solved. Or not.

Time and space travel is a common theme between Doctor Who and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, so it makes sense that the Time Lords might know the song Time Warp. Doctor Who Sings edited together footage which makes it look like the Doctors and other characters were singing along with Riff-Raff, Magenta, and Columbia.

Steven Blake of the band Animal Sun has figured out that if you listen closely to some popular songs, the vocals sound like they were sung by another famous person. With the success of The Last of Us, HBO has proven that video games can be turned into quality television programming. During his guest spot on Saturday Night Live, TLOU star Pedro Pascal joined the cast of another famous video game franchise turned prestige TV drama, with a little help from Nintendo.

Percussionist Sethdrums likes to add his own rhythmic flair to humorous edits of songs. Here, he takes on The Police’s track Roxanne, but all of the vocals have been deleted except when Sting sings “Rox.” Of course that begged the question, “Where’s Anne?”

There I Ruined It is back to demolish another popular song – this time taking on Lady Gaga’s hit song Poker Face, and transforming it into something straight out of Texas in the 1940s. If you’re into steel guitar, fiddle, and jangly old pianos, this one is for you.

A melodica is a combination of wind and a keyboard instrument. Vinheteiro is used to performing on piano, but he couldn’t be bothered to blow into his melodica, and he hired a shop vac assistant to provide the wind. We wonder what other wind instruments you could do this with and still produce anything resembling music.

5MadMovieMakers doesn’t have a dog, but he does have a remote-controlled truck he treats like a pet. So he took his four-wheeled pup Traxxas Slash for a trip in the car and let him roam around the park for a bit. While Traxxas doesn’t play fetch, he does bring the newspaper inside and won’t ever poop on the rug.
