(Flashing Images) Filmmaker Páraic McGloughlin’s abstract music video serves as the perfect complement to the driving rhythm and headphone-worthy sounds of Weval’s track Someday. The imagery and sounds reflect the fragility of our planet, and humanity’s desire to hold on.

(PG-13: Language) Writer/director Stephan Zlotescu and cinematographer H1 teamed up to create this short film that envisions an insane future in which our obsession with commercial goods has driven corporations to genetically engineer real-world versions of their mascots.

We’ve seen lots of clocks that use Nixie or other illuminated vacuum tubes. But we really dig this version where the entire time is displayed on a single tube. Pandicon’s IV-18 clock uses a new, old stock VFD tube to emit it’s greenish-blue glow. You can find more IV-18 clocks from other Etsy shops.

Sure, you can go out and buy an off-the-shelf replica of Iron Man’s infinity gauntlet from Avengers: Endgame, but there’s something so satisfying about building your own. Seanscrafts shows us his DIY gauntlet he made using cardboard, a glove, hot glue, and paints.

17 Stories‘ distressed metal bar cabinet has looks inspired by an industrial shipping container. It features a double-decker design that’s ideal for storing bottles of wine and glasses, but really can be used for all sorts of items. Measures 49.2″ H x 28.7″ L x 16.5″ D.

Artist and musician Koka Nikoladze builds electromechanical objects which act like analog drum machines, producing unusual beats using bits and pieces of household objects and hardware to produce their rhythms. Be sure to check out Beat Machines No. 2 and No. 3.

Headphone maker V-Moda adds to its line of customized shields, which already included laser-engraved and 3D printed designs for their Crossfade line of headphones. Now you can get them printed in color, using either a pre-made design, a monogram, or your own uploaded graphics.

Making things out of colored pencils seems to be a bit of a trend. There’s something about the colors and texture that make such things immensely appealing. Angqvist recently made himself a knife handle by laminating together a bunch of sliced up pencils, and it looks fantastic.

This amazing bit of kit was built by Yuriy Shishkov of the Fender Custom Shop for the 2018 NAMM show. The combo includes a light-up Telecaster electric guitar and an accompanying amplifier, both built using parts from an 1975 Bally Wizard pinball machine.

The Royal Ocean Film Society spends some time looking at the works of Richard Williams, one of the last of his breed of hand animators – a man known for his fluid and dynamic style, and ability to create worlds with a tremendous sense of depth and perspective.

Artist Andy Warhol was known for his bold and colorful imagery of icons of pop culture, from celebrities to products. Now you can own some of his images, from the Campbell’s soup can, to the Brillo box, memorialized as plush pillows, thanks to the folks at kidrobot.

Crossbow maker Raduka shows off a truly impressive build – a miniature version of a reverse-draw compound crossbow, capable of firing dangerous little projectiles with tremendous power. All of the parts appear to have been shrunk down from a full-size weapon, and it works just like the real deal.

Hin Nya constructed an incredible virtual roller coaster which incorporates the haunting visual and auditory elements of the Aliens films in an insane 15-minute-long ride, built with the theme park simulator app Planet Coaster. Headphones recommended.

Travel Oregon follows up its wonderful Studio Ghibli inspired promo with another amazing animation, featuring flying whales, anthropomorphic islands, and many more amazing things you won’t actually see when visiting. Still, it’s a beautiful place, and you should go see it.

Music and sound design studio Golden Hum shares a brief look inside the Rimowa factory, where sheets of polycarbonate are vacuum-formed into shape, then cut with waterjets, and assembled to form their premium hard-sided luggage. Watch a metal suitcase come together here.

Magician Chris Ramsay commissioned a puzzle box from furniture maker Craig Thibodeau. One year and $10,000 later, the box arrived, and Chris tried to solve it for the first time on video. Putting it back together seems to be equally puzzling.

Martin Heck of Timestorm Films journeyed to the South Pole to bring us this time-lapse footage of the colorful, dancing lights of the Aurora Australis. With nighttime temperatures as below -70°C/-95°F, he needed special housings to ensure the cameras didn’t fail.

Clearly taking inspiration from this build, maker Chris Salomone created a set of custom JoyCon cabinets to surround his big screen TV, transforming it into a gigantic replica of the Nintendo Switch and providing a place to store games and accessories.

Currently available in the UK, U-Build is a DIY modular and flat-pack wood and hardware system for building structures, furniture, and storage. You design your layout and dimensions on its website, then the parts are sent to you. You need only basic tools to put the frame together.

Prop maker David Guyton made a replica of Iron Man’s Nano Gauntlet from Avengers: Endgame. Rather than cheap materials, he built it out of steel, brass, and glass. But he will upload a template on his website so you can make it out of different materials if you want.

Motion designer Tomin decided to play around with some digital animation techniques, taking CG models of conventional objects like water bottles, cars, and iPhones and placing them into unexpected situations. We want a pair of those car shoes now.
