Look out, massage therapists — robots are coming for your jobs. Robotics start-up Aescape debuted automated robotic massages from a mantis-looking thing with two mechanical arms.

At least it comes in peace. It’s an automated massage table that gives customized massages by using AI tech to create a 3-D computational model of each guest’s body. However, it does not respond to vocal commands, so a request like “softer please so my kidneys don’t pop” does not compute.
Guinea pigs/customers for the AI massage experience is happening now at Lotte New York Palace hotel’s ila Only Spa. A 30-minute appointment costs $75, which is quite a bargain, especially when you factor in the savings when you stiff the thing on a tip. Coming soon to NYC Equinox locations.
