Awesome Tom Jones

We know what several other songs would sound like if Blink-182 sang them, but what if Tom Jones joined the band and took over as lead singer from Tom DeLonge? DJ Cummerbund adds a dash of pop punk to the 1965 tune that got the ladies tossing their underwear at the buff Welshman.

Singer Tom Jones has been performing since the early 1960s. In this intimate NPR Tiny Desk Concert, he proves he’s still got it. At age 81, his smooth and soulful voice gives us chills as he belts out three introspective songs: One More Cup of Coffee, There’s No Hole In My Head, and I’m Getting Old.

Postmodern Jukebox and vocalist Ariana Savalas teamed up to transform Shaggy’s raggamuffin hit It Wasn’t Me into a ’60s-style version that sounds a whole lot like Tom Jones’ classic It’s Not Unusual. It’s one of those things that shouldn’t work, but somehow it does.

An amazing gem of a cover of Prince’s classic Purple Rain, performed back in 1992 by Tom Jones and Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour. Nothing will ever be as perfect as the original, but this is as close as you can get.
