Awesome Tilt-shift

Damp Design takes us on a tour of Norway like you’ve never seen it before, with all of the people, boats, cars and vacationers looking like tiny ants. Sure, tilt-shift photography is so 2012, but it’s really well executed here.

Factoria made this time-edited tilt-shift video of their 7,500km (~4,700mi) train ride from Beijing, China to Moscow, Russia on the Trans-Mongolian Railway. The song is Mongol Nutag by Sedaa.

A collection of timelapse, hyperlapse and tilt-shift photography by Ben Wiggins. Wiggins was able to capture motion without sacrificing detail. The song is The Alley by DeVotchKa. Best watched full-screen.

Another eye-popping compilation from Luc Bergeron aka Zapatou. This time he used 179 time-lapse and tilt-shift videos taken from all over the world. The song is Wolf by First Aid Kit.

Artem Sergeevich frames the Russian capital as a lively and proud city, its old and new architecture waiting to be admired. The track is Ghosts N’ Stuff (Nero Remix) by Deadmau5 and Rob Swire.

Dirt 3 milks Ken Block’s endorsement for all its worth with this wonderful tilt-shift version of the gymkhana run through Battersea Power Station, making Block’s car look like an R/C toy.

Switchback Entertainment’s charming tilt-shift video documents a bird’s eye view of teeny, tiny Whistler Village and surrounding Whistler Blackcomb mountains, making it a real life snow globe.

Photographer Sam O’Hare makes all the attendees at this year’s Coachella festival look really, really tiny, courtesy of the now familiar tilt-shift lens – used to perfect effect in this setting.

Pro-wrestling goes spectacularly small with this tilt-shift video of Hulkamania by Keith Loutit in Australia; Hulk Hogan & Rick Flair battling it out like Lilliputians = hypnotically hilarious.

Toy Soldiers is our favorite use of tilt shift thus far: it shows a military parade and was filmed atop a building overlooking the Champs Elysees with two Canon 5D Mark IIs at 3.9 fps.

The tilt shift thing has be done to death, but this Tokyo video’s blend of time lapse gives the megalopolis a miniaturized feel; anybody else getting the urge to go Godzilla on it?

With oversized monster trucks, garishly painted cars and wanton destruction, the video above definitively shows that demolition derbies + tilt-shift = a match made in heaven.
