A Tribute to Pop-up Headlights
One of the things we miss from sports cars are pop-up headlights. Rockstar Rides also has a place in his heart for these neat sources of light and style, and set out to find as many of these cars as he could. The result is a wonderful montage of rides with serious personality.
Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody
The latest iteration of Dodge’s 707 hp supercharged V8 muscle sedan is 3.5″ wider, allowing for gigantic 305/35ZR20 tires to be wrapped around its 20″ x 11″ rims. That added grip makes it go around a 2.1 mile track 2.1 seconds faster than the prior Hellcat. It’s also got electric power steering for greater versatility.

2020 BMW M8
The most potent of BMW’s 8-series looks fantastic in either coupe or convertible form, and Competition models that rev higher and get M Sport exhaust. The M8 gets a 600 hp twin-turbo V8, while the M8 Competition bumps that to 617 hp for a 0-to-60 time of just 3.0 seconds, and a 189 mph top speed.

Mercedes-AMG GT R
A drop-top variant of AMG’s powerful 2-seater. Like the coupe, it packs a 4.0L biturbo V8 with 577 hp and 516 lb-ft. of torque, along with enhanced aerodynamics to improve downforce, and lightweight components to help launch it to 60 mph in just 3.5 sec.
Ferrari F8 Tributo
It’s already time for Ferrari to replace the 488 GTB, and its latest Berlinetta looks like a killer, with a 3.9L twin-turbo V8 that makes 710 hp and 568 lb-ft. torque, launching the stallion to 62 mph in 2.9 sec, and 124 mph in 7.8 sec, towards a 211 mph top speed.
2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
Ford’s most powerful street-legal car ever will pack a supercharged 5.2L flat-plane cranked V8 engine making “more than 700 hp.” It has a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, gigantic brake rotors, Magneride adaptive suspension, and can be lightweighted with a carbon track pack.
Lexus RC F Track Edition
For 2020 the Lexus RC F’s beefy V8 jumps to 472 hp, and gets a few other upgrades, but it’s the RC F Track Edition that we want. This beast has shed 176 lb and improved aero thanks to carbon fiber everywhere, titanium exhaust, lightweight forged wheels, and carbon ceramic brakes.
Lamborghini Huracán EVO
The latest version of Lambo’s powerful Huracán has a 5.2L V10 making 640hp and 443 lb-ft. of torque. The AWD supercar features a new vehicle dynamics system and rear-wheel steering for impressive handling, and upgraded aerodynamics compared to the original.

The German luxury sportscar maker drops the top on its powerful and dramatic 2-seater with the latest addition to its lineup. It packs a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 that makes 515 hp and 494 lb-ft. of torque, launching it from 0 to 60 in 3.7s and a top speed of 192 mph.
XING Miss R Off-road EV
Taiwanese EV maker XING Mobility is showing off a wicked prototype – a 1341 hp compact sports car capable of handling both on-road and off-road terrain. It’s got a four-wheel drive system with torque vectoring to help it corner like a go kart, and is expected to do 0-to-62 in 1.8s.

Fans of the teutonic sports car manufacturer will love this vibrant retrospective from Porsche’s 9:11 Magazine which features a handful of truly memorable cars from the 1950s through the 2010s, including the original 911, the elusive 959, and the sleek, high-tech 918 Spyder.

Yes, it bugs us that it’s not being called a sedan too, but we’ll forgive Mercedes-AMG since this family-friendly big brother to the all-wheel drive AMG GT packs up to 630 hp and 664 lb-ft. of torque and can zoom from 0-to-60 in just 3.1 seconds in its bonkers AMG GT 63 S variant.
