Awesome Sonic The Hedgehog

Now you do what Robotnik told ya. Chiptune musician fxsnowy took Rage Against the Machine’s track Killing in the Name and programmed it to play with the 16-bit sounds of the SEGA Genesis game console. It’s time for Sonic and Tails to rise up and take the power back.

Simon from ClayClaim has made some incredible polymer clay sculptures based on video games. This time, he upgraded from a static diorama to a motion scene. He used clay and paper to craft a backdrop based on Sonic the Hedgehog’s Green Hill Zone, then attached a LEGO Technic motor and added a wheeled Sonic to run through the level.

It’s hard to top the original Sonic the Hedgehog games for their sheer sense of speed, excitement, and iconic level design. Sonic Superstars aims to freshen up the 2D platform action with modern graphics, all-new zones, new Chaos Emerald powers, and the ability to play side-by-side with friends as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose. Adam from North of the Border was trying to come up with a way to sculpt Sonic the Hedgehog that was different from what’s already out there on the internet. So he created a clay sculpture of SEGA’s mascot in his iconic “Naruto run” pose, then covered the figure with flocking to give him a delightfully fuzzy blue finish.

The music from the first couple of Sonic the Hedgehog games is some of the best in the history of video games. Among our favorites is the music from the Chemical Plant Zone, which drummer gotobejake made even better by adding a live rhythm track. We also enjoyed Jake’s take on Duck Tales.

The Sonic the Hedgehog series is known for its breakneck speeds, loop-de-loops, and corkscrews. Now we can see what Sonic sees from his perspective thanks to this first-person mod of the PC version of Sonic Generations, posted by Blue Vivacity. Be warned, you might not want to watch if you’re prone to motion sickness.

That fan-designed LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog set is finally here. The official version features an accurate recreation of the Green Hill Zone, complete with a palm tree, loop de loop, enemies, and of course Sonic’s rings. The 1125-piece set comes with a Sonic minifig, a brick-built Dr. Eggman, and seven Chaos Emeralds.

Sonic gets an open-world game exploration game in the vein of Breath of the Wild. Our favorite blue hedgehog will spin and dash his way through the landscapes of Starfall Islands, including massive waterfalls, forests, and deserts. Coming to consoles and PC for the 2022 holiday season.

Cellist Samara Ginsberg takes on another piece of music from the soundtrack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. After giving us a flawless performance of the Chemical Plant Zone, she goes back to the game’s first level. Close your eyes and imagine the grassy hills, Mobius loops, and cascading waterfalls of the Emerald Hill Zone.

Guess we’ve got Sonic the Hedgehog on the brain today. Crank up the volume and enjoy another great cello performance by musician Samara Ginsberg that will have you dusting off your SEGA Genesis as soon as you hit play.

LEGO has announced that toastergrl’s concept for a Sonic the Hedgehog playset has been approved for production. While we don’t know what the final version will look like, the current design includes brick-built versions of Sonic, Dr. Eggman and his mech suit, Heavy Gunner, and familiar scenery from the Green Hill Zone.

It looks like SirTremendous could use a housekeeper, but we’ll forgive the mess in the background because his performance of the Green Hill Zone soundtrack from Sonic the Hedgehog is just too good to ignore. His YouTube channel has more great covers like Want You Gone from Portal 2 and a Star Wars medley.

The 8-Bit Big Band takes on a track from the 16-bit era, with an appropriately New Jack Swing interpretation of the music from Sonic the Hedgehog’s notoriously tricky Spring Yard Zone level. The only thing it’s missing are the sounds of the bouncy bumpers and gold rings being collected.

Sonic the Hedgehog is still one of the greatest platformers of all time, with memorable characters, amazing level design, and a fantastic soundtrack. Pianist Lord Vinheteiro didn’t just cover the Green Hill Zone theme song, but performed it in sync with the action on screen, complete with sound effects.

Hot on the heels of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer, AOK is here to deliver the Sonic movie we really want, a story about a spiky-haired video game character who loses his pet fox to a gang of evil robots, and is hellbent on revenge. He’s coming to kick your ass, Robotnik.

After terrifying viewers with its earlier trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, Paramount Pictures hopes audiences will forgive and forget, revamping the CG animated video game character with bigger eyes and fewer teeth this time around. Hopefully, the movie will be entertaining after all of the hubbub.

The original Sonic the Hedgehog has one of the most catchy and memorable soundtracks in the history of gaming, thanks to composer Masato Nakamura. Now listen as 130Grit Sound Studio performs a trio of familiar tunes from the game, done wonderfully in Dick Dale/surf rock style.

There’s been so much uproar about how awful the character looked in the trailer for upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie, that its release has been delayed until 2020. Animator Artur Baranov fixed everything wrong with SEGA’s mascot by painstakingly replacing him with the cartoon version.

The Japanese sibling of streetwear pioneer X-Large has just released a capsule collection featuring Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails. The ’90s collection features jackets, sweaters, shirts and pants knitted or printed with Sonic graphics.

Sonic the Hedgehog fans will love these textured blue suede shoes featuring colors and pixel patterns from the SEGA Genesis game. The translucent red rubber outsole features the SONIC logo, and the laces have gold rings. Feeling villainous? There’s an Eggman edition.

The original Sonic the Hedgehog was loaded with some of the most memorable music in the history of video games, including the classic opening level Green Hill Zone. Banjo Guy Ollie turns in an equally memorable performance of the tune on banjo and mandolin.

RocketJump mashes up two very different gaming franchises as Shadow the Hedgehog invades the world of Shadow of the Colossus. The result? A game we’d very much like to play, with twisty stone loop de loops and hulking creatures spewing golden rings.
