Awesome Snow

Our hands behind the wheel of GMC’s confident and luxurious SUVs and trucks, we headed into the snowy mountains of Vail, Colorado. There, we explored some of the natural beauty, hit some awesome snowmobile trails, enjoyed a luxury ski resort, and dined on delicious local cuisine.

Designed for use by snow resorts, this unique electric vehicle from Austria is basically the winter equivalent of a go kart. With its lower operating speeds and low center of gravity, it’s more beginner-friendly than a snowmobile, and looks like a fun way to spend some time when you’re not hitting the slopes.

You don’t need an 8K display to enjoy the stunning white imagery captured by video production company Armadas around Japan’s Mt. Moriyoshi. The conditions there are ideal for covering trees with an snowy and icy mix that occurs when clouds and fog freeze onto their branches and leaves.

YouTuber Arjen Hartsuiker has a love for building with LEGO, but he’s also into mountaineering. So he decided to combine his two passions, by taking a 7-hour climb in the Italian Alps to an altitude of about 8300 feet, where he set up a LEGO train set with one of the most epic views ever seen by its minifig passengers.

Check out this incredible point of view video captured by rider Kilian Bron, who managed to beat out more than 700 other bike riders on an unmarked 15.5 mile, 7800+ vertical foot downhill run in the 2019 Mountain of Hell competition in the French Alps. Snowfeet are a compact hybrid of ice skates and skis. The updated version are made of reinforced fiberglass material and features metal ski edges for easy stopping, heel brakes to slow down, and has more adjustable bindings to fit more shoe sizes.

Coming for winter 2018, the Tusk is a compact and versatile tool for getting rid of snow and ice from a variety of surfaces. It has an ice scraper, a retractable spade with cutting teeth, squeegee wings to safely remove ice from vehicles, and doubles as a safety reflector.

Austrian trial and mountain bike athlete Fabio Wibmer’s latest clip features a variety of thrilling stunts as he jumps from a helicopter, zooms down a snowy mountainside, jumps over rooftops, and gives the ski police the chase of their lifetimes.

The madmen at Shifted Interests swapped a 1000 cc engine from a Yamaha FZ1 motorcycle into a Smart Fortwo, substantially increasing its power and turning it into an angry little machine, perfect for making tiny powdered donuts – at least until they killed it.

After building himself an airplane, Peter Sripol decided to make himself something a little less ambitious, but just as fun – a tricked-out sled that can glide across the snow thanks to an airplane propeller on the back. It’s not exactly fast, but it lets him go sledding without a hill.

RCSparks Studio shows off an amazing remote-controlled vehicle, the Spyker KAT, a dual-treaded snow cat and dump truck which can be fitted with a working snowblower up front. Other than the electrical bits and hardware, the whole thing was 3D printed.

Imagine downhill skiing, but without the hassle of carrying around long skis and poles. The video makes Snowfeet look like a blast, but we do wonder how easy it is to turn and stop with these things, and if they’d possibly be safe on anything more than the bunny hill or a Green.

In 1914, Ernest Shackleton and team set out to cross Antarctica by boat. They ran into ice, and were stranded for 634 days. He helped save his entire crew, but never finished his mission. 100 years later, his great-grandson completed the task in a tricked-out Hyundai Sante Fe.

Subaru recently asked rally driver Mark Higgins to perform an insane stunt – driving a WRX STI down (and up) the Olympic bobsled run in St. Moritz. Along the way, the car took a few bumps and scrapes, but the driving was top-notch given the extremely tight course.

You’ve just trudged through a foot of snow to get to the train so you can head to work. But the blizzard is far from over. Nick Colvin captured this awesome slow-mo footage of a commuter train covering passengers with a deluge of the white stuff as it pulls into the station.
