Techmoan takes a look at another fascinating bit of retro technology, an alternative approach to portable audio tapes that was being developed by Sanyo at the same time that Philips was working on the cassette tape. We love the heft of that old player.

Sanyo’s short focus laser projector is a gamechanger: it only requires 24″ of space between itself and the wall, yet manages to project a 100″ 1080p images with 7,000 lumens.v

At 10,000 lumens, Sanyo’s PLC-XF71 screams ultimate bachelor pad; however, with a 3000:1 contrast ratio and 1024×768 resolution, it’s really a pro-level projector for presentations.

Sanyo’s Xacti line of compact HD cameras gets an upgrade with the HD800. Though seemingly a small step up from the HD700 on paper (from 7 MP to 8 MP), Akihabara News reports big noise reductions.
